Re: Modelzone Me-109

I assure you Admin it does not... I wish it did...

It would certainly make my export job a lot easier if it did! Our postal services are private....

I may stand corrected.
I was told this by a UK dealer about eighteen months ago. I just tried verifing this info over the net to no avail.

Re: Modelzone Me-109

I love the look of the MZ '109, but as long as MZ quotes 30 pounds shipping, I'm not going to take the chance. That's because, if I agree to that charge, they can apply that charge, no matter how much it actually costs them. Until they get realistic in their shipping estimates, I can't see ordering from them. 29 pounds for the model plus 30 pounds for shipping is what I COULD be charged. 59 pounds (total) at the current rates (Bloomberg) is around $110 dollars. My assumption is that MZ wants to make sure these models are available to its British customers, and is actually discouraging foreign buyers by applying a high-cost shipping "threat".

MHO...

To foster truth in complaining (which is why I included my own post, above), I emailed MZ and asked for a shipping quote. The reply was from Janet Smith, and she wrote:

"Shipping will be £6. If you order online as normal and the shipping costs will be adjusted automatically at this end.
"Regards
"JAnet"

So, since I can hardly resist a Corgi '109E, I placed an order (so help me, sometimes I think I'm crazy!!!!). I will keep this thread informed of the outcome...

Re: Modelzone Me-109

I order the "109" and "Hurricane" right from "The ModelZone" main office and I received a quote of 25.00 Pounds for shipping.
I had order from the UK before from a retail store and that charge includes what they call a "VAT" charge which if you live outside of the UK you dont pay and they will deduct it. The deduction was 13.41 GBP's on this order.
I E-mailed them and they responded very quickly and said that it would be deducted and the shipping charges would be adjusted, so the maximum S/H should be about 12.00 GBP's.
Also she said that Overseas orders will began shipping tomorrow Fri SEPT 21 2006.

Re: Modelzone Me-109

My first comments on the MZ shipping charges:

MHO...

My second quote on MZ's shipping charges:
To foster truth in complaining (which is why I included my own post, above), I emailed MZ and asked for a shipping quote. The reply was from Janet Smith, and she wrote:

"Shipping will be £6. If you order online as normal and the shipping costs will be adjusted automatically at this end.
"Regards
"JAnet"

So, since I can hardly resist a Corgi '109E, I placed an order (so help me, sometimes I think I'm crazy!!!!). I will keep this thread informed of the outcome...

So here is the final chapter in the MZ shipping saga:

First, the service I received from Model Zone was excellent, and the answer to my email asking for a shipping quote came quickly, and the amount quoted was actually a little more than the actual amount.

Except where indicated, amounts are in pounds.
The plane cost 29.99. Shipping was 7.00. The VAT (value added tax?) for the plane was 4.47 and for the shipping charge VAT was 1.04. The 4.47 was subtracted from the cost of the plane, and the 1.04 was subtracted from the shipping cost. This brought the total cost (model plus shipping) to 31.58, which is US$59.87.

The model came in a simple, tight-fitting cardboard box, and luckly wasn't mangled on the way.

Anyway, this is my second MZ transaction, and I am very pleased!

Oh, and the model is nice, too!

Re: Modelzone Me-109

I've got the Hurricane on the way. Excellent communications from Modelzone, and they didn't charge me £30 for shipping - £7 to New Zealand, minus VAT off both the plane and shipping. This is the first time I've dealt with Modelzone - it may not be the last!
