| Something missing on Corgi PBY Flying boats I would like to start off by saying Corgi did a fantastic job on their Catalina PBY models. The amphibious version is spot on, but there is one thing missing on its flying boat counter part. Beaching gear on the flying boat version of the Catalina was a three piece affair, with two main gear type mounts under the wings and a smaller wheeled brace under the tail. Corgi did a nice job on the main beaching gear, but unfortunately none for the tail. Their Catalina does look good on the stand, but it sure would have been nice to be able to display it on its beaching gear. May just have to see if I can find an after market set of beaching gear or try and dig up a set from one of the Catalina kits put out by Academy. | |||||||||||||
