1:48 Corgi AA37801 von Richthofen Albatross

ehattons.com (UK site) has terrific posted pictures of the 1st Albatross. Rigging looks terrific. Fit isn't as nice as I hoped. Prop looks plastic (again), but at least the spinner covers an unpainted hub. The second SE5a release is also out with terrific pictures posted. I can't speak to the colors on this one, I do not know if they are accurate, but the shape of the model and fit, I think, are terrific. Again, it has an unpainted hub and plastic looking prop.

Re: 1:48 Corgi AA37801 von Richthofen Albatross

I am very disappointed at Corgi's effort. The pilot , the prop,, and those HORRIBLE fuselage join lines. My model Power Albatross fits better. I cannot believe Corgi screwed this one up. I will buy one sadly as it is the only 1/48 diecast Albatross out there. Matchbox would have done much better at half the cost. Please lord don't let C1 stop making WW1 planes.....

Thumbs up Re: 1:48 Corgi AA37801 von Richthofen Albatross

I gotta tell you this 37801 looks better in hand. I got one and was amazed. the rigging and overall detail was great.

The pictures make it look worse than mine looks, I was real happy and for $36.00 in 1/48 with the rigging, nice stand and super packaging I am pretty happy.

o.k, I will hope for the best then. Perhaps the model in the picture is a lemon with it's slightly drooping prop and large gaps.

Cool Re: 1:48 Corgi AA37801 von Richthofen Albatross

I recently jumped on the Carousel band-wagon and purchased the Voss Folker and the Baracca Nieuport 11. They should be here by 12/17, and after reading great inputs I can hardly wait for their UPS arrival. That said, there's a $30.00 delta between Carousel and Corgi and I'd like see some input from members who own both. No photo comparisons, please. Just the real thing. I'm going after the SE-5A and the Spad XIII, and I'll give you pix & comments when I've compared both.

Re: 1:48 Corgi AA37801 von Richthofen Albatross

I'm expecting the Albatross and SE-5 in soon and I'll post some snaps asap Elmer. Was going to hold off but I said what the hell "It's Christmas". As a wise man said many years ago 'shrouds don't have pockets!

I forgot to mention mine was # 25, seems kinda cool to get that low a number off the line :-)
