Re: 1:48 Corgi AA37801 von Richthofen Albatross

Looks like Corgi did a fantastic job on this one, I know in the pics it looks too shiny but without the Camera Flash and in hand it really is not that shiny. I think they used some sort of Satin finish and the colors look very accurate as well as the markings. Great plane for under $40.00

I have a painting by JAMES DIETZ of this particular Albatross flown by the Red Baron. The color profile shown below is accurate as far as Corgi's depiction of their diecast, but experts can chime in of course!

Tim has posted some super snaps on his Tricatus site. Thankfully he is a lot better with the 'brownie box' camera!

The photos posted by Tricatus are, as usual, excellent. Based on the photos alone, the rigging doesn't appear to be sufficiently 'toight' ( as Goldmember would say) .

Re: 1:48 Corgi AA37801 von Richthofen Albatross

I just received my Albatros today, and must say that it does justice. The quality put into this is great. I think I'll venture out, and try one of the FlyBoys 'Cassidy' Nieuports to put along side of this.
Sorry, but I do not have a camera, so I cannot post any pics. The plane is well boxed and protected. My certifcate is #100.

Regards,

Mike

Re: 1:48 Corgi AA37801 von Richthofen Albatross

Hunhunter, thanks for the good news. I've got pre-orders in for the following:

Albatros DV - von Roth
SE 5.A - Billy Bishop
Spad XIII - Biddle
Sopwith Camel - Botterell
Spad XIII - Eddie Rickenbacker.

At least I know the Albatros is on the market. Now for the others to show.

Where did you buy it as I've been looking for it?
