Re: Swordfish Opinions

My favorites are the latest Taranto attack bird and the silver preserved RNHF one.

If you are looking for a historic bird then I would almost put the Taranto one ahead of the Bismark bird. That attack really proved what planes could do to a battle fleet, and the analysis lead the Japs to assume that the Perl Harbor attack was possible.

Ooops!

These are just so good, there are no bad ones and surprisingly the prices have dropped quite a lot so dont hesitate to buy one and then drop strong hints to family and friends how wonderfull they are and with Christmas coming soon what wonderfull presents they would make and how nice it would be to have the full set,
you will probably just get socks but its worth the try.

BTW any of you gentlemen read about the channel dash? Its a very sad piece of Swordfish history but if Corgi wants to make another Swordfish then here is where to research.

Its a great situation when a diecast maker produces a series of first class examples of a plane.
Very well done Corgi.

Re: Swordfish Opinions

I think this one cool model. At first I ordered the silver one because I've seen her do a display. Then I got the float plane, very cool. This week my Bismarck model arrived. I very pleased, took a while to land that one. The lastest release is on the card too.

But you still need the black one.

Re: Swordfish Opinions

I read that the Mk II had metal covered lower wings to enable it to carry rockets. Did Corgi represent this correctly?

Re: Swordfish Opinions

The lower wing was strengthened so that rocket projectiles could be used but only the under surfaces were metal skinned. I have several books on the Swordfish but I haven't found a photograph that clearly shows how they differed from the MKI. I believe however that Corgi are in error here.

You can't go wrong with any of the Fairey Sworfishes as they are all great models to collect.I have all 6 that have been released to date and I'm very happy with all of them.

Isn't the ENTIRE wing on the Corgi metal?

Blimey! I just can't get away from your bad influence. I'm actually seriously considering that one but will get the Taranto one first. So much diecast, so little money! The legends one has a wonderful scheme but I just don't like the packaging. They take up too much space for me. I only have 3 legends planes.

Re: Swordfish Opinions

Received my first Swordfish today (Taranto attack) and all i can say is that im really impressed. Unlike some other models from Corgi is this bird stunning and i cant find a point to be disappointed. The only thing i noticed is that you cant display the torpedo when you use the stand, does nobody from Corgi noticed that?
One of the best diecasts in this year in my opinion. Only the 3 Carousel 1 FW 190 (Barkhorn, Hofmann and Götz) can compare to the Swordfish
