Who flew this Spitfire ??

What is the story on the pilot who flew this Spitfire P8088 118th Sqn ?
I think his name was Lumsden or something like that.
Produced for 21st Century Toys and marketed in conjunction with Corgi.

Re: Who flew this Spitfire ??

You mean Pilot Officer A S C Lumsden . stationed at Ibsley may 1941 , who also flew Sea Hurricane 1A V6802/LU-B .. i had the 1/18 version from 21st cent .... I really dont know what happened to the guy but perhaps from what i posted it may help to research the guy .. The people of Lambeth presented Lumsden this A/C for defending the homeland. Sorry cant be any more help , perhaps a "google " may turn up something....

P.S after the war he became an aviation writer

Re: Who flew this Spitfire ??

I don't think Lambeth presented Lumsden personally with the Spitfire it was probably one of many paid for by local collections and named after the area which raised the money. The Belfast Telegraph raised funds in NI for Spitfires ,I believe 14 ,all named after areas in NI for example ,Down,Mountains of Mourne,Enniskillen etc.

I've got this one from 21CT XD (1/18th scale) line and I have to say that it's a really nicely done model. I wish 21CT would rerelease the 18th scale Spits!
