Re: Corgi 2008 US releases

I'll take this one:

Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series US36307
Fairey Swordfish MkI Diecast Model
Royal Navy No.811 Sqn, 1938

Perhaps it is this one from 811 Squadron on HMS Furious:

Nice to have another pre-war Swordfish. The rest I'd have to wait and see what they look like.

I'm glad Corgi anticipated my desire for a silver pre war Stringbag but I think odd that it is a US release. I would have thought it had more appeal to UK collectors.

Re: Corgi 2008 US releases

I should probably wait until there are some pictures but I'm not impressed with any of these at this point. My initial impression is why did they bother?

Re: Corgi 2008 US releases

Not a great selection by any stretch of the imagination. A lot of candidates for toolings that are due a rest and, even given the aircraft types, not very imaginative colour schemes.

Swordfish is the only one of interest to me and that is probably because I suspect it would in any case appeal more to a UK market. All smacks of a desperate need to get something quickly to market but why bother?

The sooner Corgi get the US side of the operation back on the rails, the better.

My sentiments too Red 2 but at least it means I can now order the Gibson Mossie & Binbrook Lightning safe in the knowledge I am not missing any special US releases

The US34016 Corgi B-24J Liberator Diecast Model USAAF 867th BS, "Shack Bunny" should
look like this.
Here is a picture of the real "Shack Bunny"B-24J.

Would prefer a NMF B-24 from the ETO. The Michigan bird wasn't the best to continue the line....

Talking Re: Corgi 2008 US releases

I think if you look at the photos of the Blenheim, the tooling has been designed so that the short nosed version can easily be made. Everything else remains the same.

Incidentally, I visited Duxford earlier this month. The new Blenheim IV is in an advanced state of assembly. The entire cockpit is still unattached to make it easier to fit it out. It looks superb.

It appears Corgi isn't the only ones contemplating doing a short nosed version. My understanding is that the Blenheim Duxford Society is going to do their restoration as a Mk I as well. Funnier yet, it appears the only nose available is from this (on their site).

Wacky, eh?
