Re: Corgi 2008 US releases

Here is Herbert Ihlefeld's Bf-109E. The Corgi release may look like this.

Re: Corgi 2008 US releases

On the FM website, they also show a set listed as:
Diecast Model
USAAF, Warren Penny and Robert Barkey, 1944

CG-US39914 Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series 1:72
JUN 2008 PRE-ORDER $79.99

I looked up the 2 pilots and they are with the 325th FG, "Checkertails". Penny, 317th FS with 4 victories and Barkey, 319th FS with 5 kills. I know this has been done before by Corgi on US32214 P-51D Mustang Scale 1:72
Fifteenth Air Force Collection "Shu-Shu - Chuck-O", Major Norman L. McDonald, 325th FG - Checkertails

I could find no pictures of these pilot's aircraft. But here is a B model in the 325th colors.

Re: Corgi 2008 US releases

I love that P-51B. Heck, I love all P-51Bs (with birdcage canopies). Maybe GA could take a look at that scheme.

Re: Corgi 2008 US releases

I think if you look at the photos of the Blenheim, the tooling has been designed so that the short nosed version can easily be made. Everything else remains the same.

Incidentally, I visited Duxford earlier this month. The new Blenheim IV is in an advanced state of assembly. The entire cockpit is still unattached to make it easier to fit it out. It looks superb. The Beaufighter is in a similar status. The new hanger extension is great, but as with all museums these days, rather crowded so not easy to get good photos. The new gallery makes viewing the suspended aircraft quite good. Well worth a visit.

I think you will find this is a Corgi AA release and not a US release, still haven't got the hang of it, eh?
