Thumbs up Re: HALIFAX B.III RAF No.578 Sqn Cyril Barton **PICTURES**

My scalpel is ready to lop off the offending appendage on this Halifax! Did this Mark of Halifax have a visible radio antenna? Can the panel help?

According to these wartime shots of the real 'Friday the 13th', which we all know is a Mk III (yes?) you can lop away!

The mast supported the antenna cable running from it to the vertical tail fins. With the mast deleted the attachment point was moved to the top of the RDF 'football' on the upper fuselage between the wings (visible in the first pic above).

Many thanks JPN & No 4. This beauty should be arriving on this side of the pond next week. Now what other appendage can I lop off seeing as I have my scalpel ready

But the $64,000 question is: "Does it have the right landing gear??"

Mine just came in today - Awesome!

Toyed with trying to remove the arial - It's pretty solid on there, and I shyed short of snapping it off. I think I had a better chance of removing the entire canopy rather than just the arial.

Ooops!

Mine arrived this morning from The Flying Mule (5 days from the US!), and can confirm that it's a real beauty!

Sad thing is that I've very recently moved house, and don't have space at my new place to display all the collection. This one is going to have to go into storage until I get a model-room built :-/

Timbo, being honest here (& it's just MY personal opinion) if that 'Barton' Halifax were mine........ I'd leave WELL alone !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better to have 'an' arial (& more importantly, an INTACT canopy) on a Halifax that will be like "Hen's-teeth" in 10 yrs time........ than to have $100 + worth of trashed 'metal'

If it goes 'pear-shaped'......................

Agreed...
I am surprised by the cavalier attitude to deface a model which could be a diamond in the future for such an insignificant error..
