Taranto Swordfish is here

This was one I was really looking forward too.

Question I have is on the grey - Is this right? Not sure. It is very different to the grey on the Bismark bird, but it is a differnt scheme being a night scheme.

Experts please!

Re: Taranto Swordfish is here

Thanks for the heads up, Timbo. Corgi keeps putting out winning Swordfishez. I limited myself to just two, but I may have to exceed that limit. What is one to do?

I'm not sure about the colours but this Taranto Swordfish does look very, very good ...

(Can't keep pace or space with all the really releases coming out .)

Re: Taranto Swordfish is here

If you are into collecting historically significant aircraft this one should be in your collection. The only thing that might keep it out of mine is that it is not all that different than the Bismarck bird I already have.

Re: Taranto Swordfish is here

The grey is accurate , the crew configuration for this mission is'nt. The middle crewman sat out the mission and a fuel tank was put in his place in order to have the range with a full war load.

Re: Taranto Swordfish is here

Looks like another great Swordfish from the mutt.
They have done a outstanding job on both the Swordfish & Gladiator molds, if theres one thing they can do well it's Brit biplanes.

Re: Taranto Swordfish is here

A little bit of info for you that isn't included in the catalogue blurb. The model is of Swordfish L4A flown by Lt.Cdr. K. Williamson and his observer Lt. N.J. Scarlett and which lead the first wave. The aircraft was one of two that were shot down and the crew ditched in the harbor. They had to stay in the water until the raid ended. They were made POw's and the Italians recovered the wreck.

As has already been mentioned, whilst technically not wrong it is not configured as it was on the night of the Taranto Raid. For that it should only have two crew members as the telegraphist/gunner was replaced by an extra fuel tank. These tanks could be installed/removed as required.Personally I would wouldn't like to have flown into battle sitting at the side of a rubber tank full of aviation fuel!

Another superb model though and one that will be joining my collection.

Agree. That's the main reason I'm not ordering that one, even though it looks like yet another very fine model. Maybe later, right now, other diecast purchases take precedence.
