| Re: Review of AA37701 RAF SE.5a Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Raang?! Not crazy about the color scheme, but let's focus on the mold and assembly. Pilot is better than C1's I would rather have none if he is sub-par compared to Corgi's 1/72 Swordfish crew. The prop is an easy fix and I like WW1 so much I would modify this model if deemed neccessary. I would not pass on the model just because of a prop. The rigging is a great touch as are the authentically colored tires. The model has nice proportions and the wing dihedral looks on par. I do hope Corgi cleans up the wing spar disparity. I plan on getting the green 2008 version(not the one with the ugly @$##ing prop hub) so I will pass on this Mardi Gras looking livery. How many more years are nay sayers willing to wait for another company to attempt the Se5a? My Fokkers. Nieuports, and Spads are in need of company in my curio. yes this model could be better. It could be much worse. I give it an 8/10 and look forward to Corgi making som e slight corrections for the 2008's. Bring it on! Oh, and until I see one in person I will withhold further judgement. For less than the price of a C1 I'm getting my WW1 line-up ordered woohoo! | |||||||||||||

| Re: Review of AA37701 RAF SE.5a Well, Elmer, I prefer to talk about something I have seen in person (I do have an Se5a and an Albatros on pe-order with The Mule), but the prop does look poor, and tho I will do my best, I will have a hard time improving it, as I don't have much skill doing that sort of thing. Do you have suggestions on the best way to do this, Louie? I'm going by memory here, but the wing spars and landing gear spars seemed much too fat, and also, of course, looked plasticy like the prop. As Louie stated, the various proportions looked good, along with the rigging. Except for the above, it LOOKS like an Se5a! I'm looking forward to mine, and am thrilled Corgi is venturing into WW I aircraft, hope they make tons of money at it so they will do more! PS I bet that particular paint scheme was a post WW I occupation scheme, as the Brits did not generally have wild paint schemes during the war. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Review of AA37701 RAF SE.5a I wished the prop looked better ...Not sure what they did to the underwing fittings.. I hope the Sopwith Camel and Albatross look a little better. I still have MVR on pre-order as well as Mannock's Se5A...I can over look these little things i'm just happy to see them make them. JP | |||||||||||||

| Re: Review of AA37701 RAF SE.5a Hmmmm...after seeing the pics at that site, I'm not too sure I'll be getting one in a hurry. I think I'll wait for a plain OD color scheme iconic look flown by James McCudden and his group who dueled with Werner Voss! | |||||||||||||

...my thought exactly, Fly. I like the subject, and I think the overall execution is fine (except for the minor points already made in this thread), but that paint scheme... Not so sure. I like the preview pictures of the future (OD) releases, though. FVD | ||||||||||||||
