Re: Early info on 2008 releases

Any pics for these 3 planes?

Aside from the artwork posted on the UK site, some of which shows only parts of the planes, there's nothing else. Also, Albert Ross who works with Corgi, is playing it coy as to what planes will be on its first half of 2008 menu - yes, they're going back to the old twice a year release system, which is a small sign that sanity has returned. This has caused some members of that forum to speculate about Corgi doing a Beaufighter after all and perhaps even a P-39. With Hobby Master well along on production of the P-39 I can't see the business sense in Corgi duplicating its effort..... and 6-12 months later at that.

Re: Early info on 2008 releases

Sorry but The Fighter Collection sold this P-47 recently and it's now flying here in the US in Pennsylvania with Tom Duffy. It was just at the Thunder Over Michigan airshow two weeks ago.

Dennis

I'm pretty sure it's based out of Millville, NJ. Duffy owns a few other warbirds, most noteworthy is the F4U "Marines Dream". Think he has an Avenger and just bought a B-25 as well (what used to be the Green Dragon). Could be off a bit, but that's what is coming to my head right now.

Lev has pro-pro snaps of the Merin engined Halifax in the newletter section of his 'airborne large feline' site. Looks good to me with the correct high style upper turret.

Re: Early info on 2008 releases

I may just have to finally pick up a Lancaster. It's also pretty awsome that a USAAF C-47 (D-Day stripes of course) might actually be a reality next year!

Re: Early info on 2008 releases

I guess the question I would ask is this. If Corgi and Hobby Master are both coming out with an ME-110 next year, whose will be better and whose will we all chase down?

The 1:72 Dakota would be nice, but do we really think they are going to delvelope a new mould when they already have a 1:144 mould to ride?

Or are they (no, no, not again) the SAME mould???

But they still have pictures of it all over their website. They ought to do something about that.

Did anyone see the Red Bull Air Race today? It's in London next week. that should be fantastic.

Re: Early info on 2008 releases

I saw NGNG at the Thunder over Michigan show this year and thought how odd it was that there should be 2 painted up in the same scheme.

Duh!

Post Re: Early info on 2008 releases

The UK forum now has artists renditions of Corgi's JU-88, BF-110 and Typhoon for 2008 posted. The last two look very appealing, however the JU-88 features an obscure late war polka dot mottling over the two-green splinter topside scheme which is a far cry from the BOB motif many of us have been hoping for. Hope springs eternal, so maybe they are just teasing us and will include a BOB version anyway.

The following passage was in a news letter from my regular Corgi supplier ( a Corgi Platinum dealer) The Corgi ranges for 2008 will be announced in September, and will be back to the old-style 6 month catalogues. There have been some proposed lists of models for 2008 which Corgi have been showing to retailers, wholesalers and collectors to gauge opinion - at this stage, they are only that... opinion sheets.

IL-2? British forum reports

The British forum is discussing the possibility Corgi will introduce an IL-2 in 2008. If true, this could be a real breakthrough--a Russian WWII plane from Corgi, if successful, would lead to Russian models from HM and GA, I betcha. A Corgi Yak-3 next? Then maybe (a stretch?) some Japanese plane other than a Zero. The mind boggles...
