| Tuskegee P-51 Working Range
Last edited by skydriver : 07-16-2007 at 07:59 PM.
Just got the Tuskegee P-51 Working Range. Overall it is a nice airplane. The size 1:32 is perfect and it looks nice along side my Stinger VII P-51. Overall I am happy with the airplane, but just wanted to give some of my impressions so as to repay all the other guys here who have given their input on various subjects. Overall construction is excellent, with sliding canopy, moveable flaps, ailerons, rudder, horizontal stablizer, and removable engine cowlings. But, the propeller and spinner are not perfectly aligned to the front of the airplane. But, this is acceptable to me and is only really notice if you look closely. I guess you have to give up some quality control since the propeller is motorized. The base looks really nice, but the throttle control is fixed. I assumed that it would move so as to adjust the speed and sound of the prop spinning. Again no big deal to me. This aircraft must be displayed in flight on the cradle. Corgi even gives a warning not to let the airplane be supported on the landing gear as it simply is not strong enough to support the weight of the airplane. Thus the airplane is in a fixed position, and is best viewed at eye level. Any higher than eye level and you just do not get the effect of the entire display. The cost of the airplane is up there. I had been debating whether I wanted to spend upwards of $125.00 for this airplane, and decided against it. But thanks to you guys, I came across a special promotion in the good deals section and picked it up along with a Zoot Suiters B-17 for a total of $150.00 from Die Cast Collectibles. So for an average cost of only $75.00 it is worth it. Overall, I am happy with the airplane. Having shown it to several friends, they think it is "neat". But then again they could care less about my little obsession....er...I mean hobby. Here is a link to the tricatus website showing this airplane. Even though they do not show the Tuskegee Airplane, you can see everything in the Jersy Jerk photos. http://tricatus.co.uk/aa34406.htm | |||||||||||||

| Re: Tuskegee P-51 Working Range Congrats on your acquisition of that Corgi P-51 Tuskegee, skydriver. I will probably get this one sometime down the road to display next to my three other Tuskegee Stangs' from GMP 1/35th "Creamer's Dream", Eagles Intl. 1/48th "Ina the Macon Belle" and 72nd Matchbox "Bunnie" P-51s. I'm very enamored and have quite an affinity for the Tuskegee Airmen's history and look forward to viewing HC 'Dogfights' episode of the same title. | |||||||||||||
