Re: Finally adding a B-17 to my collection....???

So I get "909" today but not before catching all hell from the wife. Her: "Do you have to have that now?", Me: "Um yeah its getting harder and harder to find dear, which means it will cost more later".
Shes a looker though I have one question. Every chin mount I've seen has the twin .50s pointing to the 12 o'clock, not 1 and 11 o'clock as on the model. The cheek .50s are cool, but I wish it had some waist ones mounted. And I'd rather have the on board crew like my Yankee Doodle than the individual figures. Still its a great plane and glad I have it.
Now to fight the urge for BOL, MNR and the Strawberry Bitch if ever I can get that lucky. These big ones are kinda nice.

Anyone noticed the photo on the MNR is a F model? But the box says it's a G model.

So, what's in the box? F or G? Does it have a chin turret?

I've got MNR edkao and it's definitely a 100% "G" model. It's got the chin turrent and the enclosed waist gun positions. I love it!

Crikey!!!!

There's one off eBay right now. It will be interesting to know what the final bid outcome this may turn out to be?

Re: Finally adding a B-17 to my collection....???

Oh I get it. Someone posted this to show their wife....

"See, I really needed that plane, the price is going up and up, it's crazy. I made a very wise purchase!"

This is a great idea guys. When one of us buys a plane we can set up a post like this, praising the guy that bought it. My wife will not listen to me telling what a good deal it is but she will listen to strangers. Somethings wrong with that, but who cares, it works.

Seriously though, it will be interesting to see how high BOL goes. I am glad I picked one up when I did.

Wow! Funny thing is, had to check the spreadsheet to see if I even owned it (do). Have four B-17s, three of which were bought on the cheap. Sure enough, the BOL was $79.99. If my Microsoft calculator is correct (remember the 3.1 calc?), that would be a profit of around 500%. My most expensive was Mount N' Ride at $99.99, but cheapest were Miss Minookie (the 8th Air Force set) for $39.99 (that's $13.33 per plane), and Yankee Doodle for $39.99. The $39.99 ones were from Tuesday Mornings (the TM finds thanks to heads-up warnings from members of the original MH forum). IMHO, though, Corgi is producing fewer and fewer big bombers each year to prevent these excessive price drops--which is good for them but bad for the bargain hunters...
