Bit O' Lace Bomber question

I just got my 1:72 Bit O' Lace B-17 and love it. I had one question I was hoping some of you experts might be able to help me with, as I was unable to find any information on my own.

On the port wing, there is a section that looks like like peeling green paint. Why is this? The only thing I could figure is this part of the wing was salvaged from a different B-17as I know that was common during the war thus the mismatched paint.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Bit O' Lace Bomber question

She recieved battle damage on April 4, 1945. The mis colored parts are indeed replacement parts.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.
