Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

Guys I cannot deny the appeal of the Lanc it is one nice piece of kit but I had to vote for the Liberators I think the two I am lucky enough to own are beautiful planes (Strawberry Bitch & RAF 223 Sqn) I have not acquired a B-25 as of yet but I can see the appeal of this bird as well with pretty sweet schemes.

I really think that the Wellington deserves more votes. I'm sure that had this poll been held on the other side of the pond the results would be a bit different.

Well only 102 members have voted so far...If more voted you may see a changed in the results....The Wellington is a great little bomber..I was really surprised to see the B-25 a close 2nd to the Lancaster on the poll.I can't wait to see the Hailfax ....

It'll be very interesting to see what develops at the end of 2008. If the Halifax (Oh let's face it -- many here are betting heavily on Friday the 13th) unseats the Lancaster from it's current throne. I'm hoping the the pooch doesn't 'pooch' the Halifax -- regardless the variation!

Where's the Stuka?

Probably in the same place as the Mosquito!

Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

RE: Lancaster - I'd also be willing to bet that many of the folks who voted don't own a Lancaster yet. (That would include me.)

I voted for the B-25, though I agree the Wellington is right purty. The Lancaster prices and relative lack of availabilty has kept me from picking one up. I'd like to get one, but I'd like to get one of the regular bomber versions, which just have not been available. (Outside of the sights and sounds job from last year and I didn't want all those bells and whistles.) Since I started out, only civie and Dambuster versions have been readily available.

Yes, I'll probably go for the Friday The 13th when she comes out so try this poll again then and see how things change.

Anything for a weird life.

Everyone seems to love "Strawberry-Bitch"

Yet, sadly, the Corgi B.24 mold is a 'compromise' - regarding the 'nose-joint' (due to wanting 'D' , 'J' & 'H' versions)

That (IMO) is it's MAJOR failing

Whilst I'm a MASSIVE B.24 'lover', I think the 'nose-area' on Corgi B.24's is an absolute 'howler'

The join-lines on the turreted version look awful (hence why I NEVER bothered buying one)

I DID buy the 'Coastal-Command' version, with it's lovely colour scheme, but even the "Birdcaged"-nosed B.24 'nose-area' isn't a great match, between 'nose-Glass' & fuselage.........

Although I think the 'D' version looks better than the turreted 'J' & ''H' versions that Corgi make

Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

Hi ZS,

Ya gotta realise that everyone only gets 'one-vote' on this one - & irrespective of nationality, ONE Corgi Bomber stands out "head & shoulders" above the rest, both in it's mould accuracy & abscence of HORRID 'join-lines'

I think the Wellington looks GREAT in it's "419 Sqadron" example, (I bought two) yet not so in it's 'Coastal-Command' execution

Awkward nose & the reasons hihlighted by 'hworth18' in another thread, show why.........

I was "chomping at the bit" for the Wellington to come out, yet when it did, I exchanged mine (a 9 Sqdn 'early-war' example-AA.34801) for a "Sweet & Lovely" 381st B.Gp.B.17, with one of the lads on the 'Brit' forum (who posts here from time to time)

The higher cheatline (& the Black paint) on the later releases, hides the join-lines SO much better (which is why I bought another 3)
Yes, the Wellington is lovely..........

But yet, it would have been a 'travesty of justice' if I'd have given my 'Vote' for any other, than the BEST Bomber that Corgi make......

Irrespective of the fact that many versions are now considered 'rare' & 'sought-after'

I voted SOLELY for the Quality & execution of the 'mould' (on Corgi's 'Finest' !!!!!!!!!!)
