Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

When I was about ten (many moons ago) my Dad got me the Airfix 'Bit O'Lace' B-17 for Christmas. I was probably a bit too young to really appreciate the wonderful nose art but I loved the model as it was the first major kit I attempted to make. My best buddy got the Airfix Lancaster and endless arguments ensued over which was the best aircraft. It feels a bit like that now. I voted for the Lancaster as I feel it is the benchmark for large four motors but I love my Corgi BOL as I can now appreciate in full, the wonderful nose art.

For me the Heinkel He 111. They have made great models of this type. the doodlebug, white russia, night variant... All are fantastic.

I'll jump on the Lancaster wagon.
What other bomber could do what it did?
Dambuster spinning bombs, Tallboys, Grand Slams, nothing else could match payloads.

For me it is clear. Avro Lancaster. It has nothing to do with national anything -- just a consistantly better mold. If I could vote for a second, I would say the Wellington. The detail is fantastic!

Now THAT'S a familar story. Happened between my Brother and myself. To this day we still enjoy debating the merits of each.

Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

I really like the "unloved" Wellington, four engine ones are too big for my collection, anyways.
Regards,
Sergey

The "unloved" Wellington may be an aquired taste looks-wise for some, but Corgi really out did themselves with this model. I think they did an superb job with it all-around. The accuracy in the panel markings is truly astounding! Aside from the size, I can see why you would be keen on it. I'm considering the RCAF or No. 9 Sq. one for my collection.

Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

For me it has to be the Lancaster. Its just an awesome piece of diecast that seems to grab your attention more than anything else. In this company though I see the B25 is running it preety close.
