Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

Ah ha! So subject favouritism it is.... unless of course the poll was not asking which CORGI model was the best, but which bomber was the best.... which would still be the Lanc IMHO but honestly, those guys who actually flew them were damn brave no matter which one they were in.

Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

For me it is is the B-25. It is the ONLY Corgi multi-engined bird that inspired me to be a completist. I simply love the casting and (most) of the liveries. I only have one Lanc - a little late to the game - and she is a beauty but the B-25 still rides at the top IMHO. However, the fact that Corgi has even attempted so many of these larger birds is credit to them as far as collectors such as myself are concerned.

Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

I was really torn between the B-17 and the B-25 but there's but I just have a couple small complaints about my B-17 so I voted for the B-25

Must be the Lancaster by a mile. I have 3 Lancs, 1 B-17 and 2 B-25s. Hornchurch said it all. Accuracy, quality, paint all favor the Lancaster.

Now, if Corgi would make this Mitchell...........I may have to reconsider. Nahhhh, but I do like it.

Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

I'm figuring that MOST of the guys who've already voted (with the B.17 as current leader) are either drunk - don't actually possess one of each for direct comparison, or are suffering from National Bias, or subject favouritism !!!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong - even though I'm English, I love the B.17 as subject matter, more than any other W.W.II plane - BUT

If this poll is judged/based on quality of the Corgi 1/72 product, then the Avro Lancaster is a clear winner, by a nautical-mile !

The Lancaster is my fav "biggie", but even as pointed out on the UK forum, the Lancaster has had its fair share of goof-ups, from incorrect engines to flipped camo schemes, radar housings, not to mention the mid turret faux-paw on the Canadian birds.. This is the main reason I voted for the Mitchell... Other than the umannable guns on the PBJ, I don't know of any real obvious errors..

Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

I think the best Corgi bomber is the Strawberry Bitch B-24. I have 4 Lancs, 6 B-17s, 4 B-24s, 4 B-25s, 5 He 111s & 1 Wellington but if I could only keep one then Strawberry Bitch would be it.

Re: Best 1:72 Corgi Bomber

The only bomber from the list I do not have is the B25 (an omission I will shortly address). I voted for the Lanc, probably due to the fact Im a Brit than any technical reason.

Though I would like to say the B-24, but I also have voted for the B-25.

The Lanc and the B-25 are two of my top favorite 1/72nd models and it was difficult to choose between them. I ended up voting for the B-25 because I love my B-25J "Heavenly Body".

I don't like how the B-24 nose fits together.
