Re: "Annette" Phantom Sited

Where did Pete get those models from?. It's hard to imagine. I've surfed countless sites and never seen four or even one for sale. Bought it years ago and it's the pride of my Nam collection.

"Annette" Phantom is apperently the pride of this guy's thread post as well.

Corgi F-4C Vietnam - "Annette" HELP!

I also have this particular Phantom in my collection, and wouldn't dream of parting with it even if another one better comes along.

Re: "Annette" Phantom Sited

It was so hot becasue it was the 1st and only Nam phantom for like 3 years I think. In that time it became almost legendary as a must have modern jet model.

You have to remember, it wasn't always like this...with so much to choose from.

The first 4 years or so of this hobby, dating back to like 98-99 were pretty exciting after a few more models got released. And, yes, it was only Corgi! Heck, it was big news when Dragon entered the field. I remember when I could still walk into my local place and see a Bader Spit or or Hahn 109 for $25. They had oodles of 'em. I passed on a NF Hurricane for that b/c I thought, "Who wants a black Hurricane?". I ramble....

Thanks for the little history lesson. Much appreciated.

Re: "Annette" Phantom Sited

Until recently, I did not own a camo F-4 but I was determined to get one. In looking the three different liveries Corgi produced, I found that -IMHO- the Annette had a more appealing/interesting camo treatment and based on a few reviews on the net it apparently has better build quality than the later birds. So in the end, I parted with $60 on ebay for an Annette and she's a real beauty. Until someone produces something nicer, she'll remain the queen of my Vietnam roost.

Yeap, that lying and cheating now emprisioned Duke Cunningham didn't fly 64-816 but my father did; THAT'S what's so special about it!

We've been in contact with LTG Shuler since this discovery and we've found out all kinds of other interesting stuff over time as well; we were just contacted by a gentlemen from Switzerland that apparently has my father's back seater's flight helmet in his personal collection. One of the things we've clarified is that during Buck's time with the 558th they were still flying up North, this didn't end until the Thanksgiving 1968 bombing halt so the AIM-9's on the pylons of the Corgi model were correct. After the bombing halt the 12th never flew up North again and never saw any MIG as far as anyone recalls; during my father's 13 months at Cam Rahn they didn't have AIM-9's on the aircraft at all as there was no point. The 12th deactivated on March 31st 1970 so they weren't around later during the Linebacker II era.

Happy Collecting ya'll, and if anyone has an Annette they're looking to sell let me know as I'd like to have another.

That has to be a cool feeling knowing they made your fathers Phantom in a diecast too.

Wow! THAT is awesome. So your father flew Annette. That is cool. She is now restored and kept in great condition I've heard.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.
