Re: Corgi 1/48 Choppers

Sorry ZS, can't help you with the AH-1's because I don't have one (I gave my only one away to my uncle). Although from what I recall it was just okay. IIRC, the gun turret did not move/gun did not elevate so that was a big letdown. The detail didn't do much for me....otherwise it was great.

If you're willing to shell out some bucks, the AH-64 from FM might be a better alternative. I also can't comment about the FM AH-1's because I've never seen them.....AA, got any pearls of wisdom concerning the FM Cobras?

I never bothered to get an AH-1 from FM. The ones I saw in store were not that appaling to me. I think the Corgis are better. In time I will get one.

Yes, the FM Apache is very nice! I will get one someday. Until then I am perfectly happy with the SunStar Longbow which is very good for its price!

I've never been one for the AH-64 preferring instead the home-grown Rooivalk attack helicopter. Competed against the AH-64 but lost out due to political from the US.

Thumbs up Re: Corgi 1/48 Choppers

I've got the Franklin Mint Cobra, Huey, & Apache and like them all. I might eventually get the Corgi H-47 if FM doesn't come out with one.

Re: Corgi 1/48 Choppers

Hover,
what about the gatling mounted Hueys from FM (i.e. Cowboys)? Do you know if they're accurate, not in detail but historically speaking (because we all know that FM would never put out anything inaccurate detail wise! )

BTW, I know the airframes are different but from the pics it seems the models are slightly different scales.

Yep, I'm not aware of any Army units that operated D/H gunships. Some of the foreign supplied ones might have, but it was a waste of space to configure a "D/H" in that way. I think the scale problem is the way they sit on the skids rather than a major dimensional discrepency.
