Boeing B-17E 19th BG, Java, 1942

Someone got this plane? If so, how are your opinions on these B 17. Is it is money worth? Since there aren't many produced the prices are extremely high to buy this B 17, with shipping to germany it would cost me much, much money and not to forget the duties. Some pictures of it would be also very appreciated except of the tricatus homepage.

Thx so far

IMHO there are better B17's out there. This one is fraught with inaccuracy. It has the wrong nose, tail turret and waist gunner positions for an "E" to name but 3 errors.

If you can I would pick up any of the following instead:

Bit-o-lace
Mount-n-Ride
909.

If you really want an "E" version get Yankee Doodle, which is much more accurate in several of these areas, although the camo paint scheme is not for everyone.

Ooops!

A nice F model is Miss Minookie from the 8th AF set. Usually that can be had for a good price and comes with P47 and P51. Some don't like the green though. Works for me, I got it cheap.

Normally I would agree with you, Timbo, but after taking a look at this B--17e on the Tricatus site, the first thing that struck me was "customize it yourself". Because of that distressed look, that B-17 is the best candidate to be modded to where it should be. I'm considering having a go at it myself, since I would like a 'Life' magazine 'E' from the early Pacific war era. Bingo!

If I do go forward with this I'll post the results.
