S+S Lancaster question

I looked on the site and prices are a little out of my price range other than the S+S Lancaster. What is the issue with this version that is seems to be avoided? Is it just the stand?

I posted this reply in Great Deal but thought this would be a better place for this question.

Re: S+S Lancaster question

It is the latest one. All the ones before are sold out or extremely rare to find, hence the high price. The S & S lancaster looks very nice. I don't know if the dorsal turret is right on that model. You will need the expert opinion on that one. Anyway, it is an excellent model. One to own if you are looking for a lancaster without the super high price.

Re: S+S Lancaster question

The 1st S&S Lanc had the incorrect dorsal turret fitted, though to me it still looks ok from a distance . The later release was the S&S Dambusters Lanc which, unlike the 1st issue Dambusters Lanc, had the camo painted the correct way around. The 'bells & whistles' stands on both S&S Lancs can be ignored or covered up. My pick of the two would be the Dambusters.

Re: S+S Lancaster question

The Lancaster is a beautiful aircraft and I was fortunate enough to get S for Sugar many years ago. I had the S&S Lancaster but I got rid of it because the turret was totally inaccurate and put me right off. I'm not a rivet counter but it did'nt look right. Go ahead and buy it if you want a Lancaster in the interim and wait until the right one comes along at the right price.

Re: S+S Lancaster question

I have the latest Corgi 1:72 Dambusters Lancaster and it's a great all round looking bomber.
I replaced the stand for the Dambuster because my son kept hitting the button on that thing and
the music plays along with the lights and gunfire sounds..

Re: S+S Lancaster question

Thank you for the feedback. My choice was made for me at least temporarily when I purchase aradrow's Strawberry Bitch. With the price of the other Lancasters I may just need to go with the S+S after I build up the funds. There is always the Halifax too!

The Halifax should be a nice addition, UK forum guys have been talking about the possiblity of a future 'Phantom of the Ruhr' Lanc hopefully a non- S&S version.

Say . . . I was thinking of picking one of those up, but from everything I've seen online, it doesn't appear as if it comes with landing gear? True / False?

It comes complete, just as a regular Lanc would except the stand is different..

Thank you very much! That's all I needed to know. Based on that, I have placed my order. I got left behind in that last Dambuster release, and from the sounds of it (reversed out camo) I guess it is just as well. Cheers!
