Just as a follow-up and an observation, I just received my SnS Dambuster today, and I have to say it is stunning. No -- I don't have it on the stand, although I did toy around with it for a bit (I've got the full Dambusters 1955 recording on CD performed by Eric Coates -- brilliant), but have since mounted the landing gear and have the model sitting on my desk. A wonderful icon of overcoming the seemingly impossible.

I did notice the two lights fore and aft in the relieved bomb bay that has a tiny light switch to illuminate them. Very nice touch to help tell the story to someone who hasn't heard it before. (On mine 60ft at 1:72 scale is about 9-10" from the floor) It also looks like it will be tricky surgery to very neatly remove that panel to replace the battery some day(!)

The landing gear are improved over my PO•S (which has not only spindly plastic struts but the angles of them are not quite 'Lancaster correct' as well) and they are now robust diescast metal with bald tires. Mmmm nice. I still don't understand why Corgi doesn't issue the landing gear with the struts blackened, but I guess I can spring for another tin of Humbrol. May as well finish the tire cores the correct colour too while I'm at it.

Overall -- I couldn't be happier. This is certainly a much nicer version than the Revell one I built in 1966! It even 'feels' like it has the right weight! Thanx, Corgi, it's another winner in my eyes.

Approx 10" off my floor -- Roll music! (Yes -- I retouched the midupper turret patch out.)
