Re: Corgi American Bombers

I use a large black plastic bin liner for my purchases hidden in my car boot (trunk to you Americans). When the 'war office' has retired to bed I smuggle them into my den. Any purchase that arrives by mail are 'bargains' that were too good to pass. I also have my own credit card.; essential for these crafty buys!!

That sounds all good for you, Shamrock...but I've tried similar sneaky tactics like yours and it doesn't seem to work with my wife. She got me all figured out and I'm afraid I'm running out of options!

Re: Corgi American Bombers

It's sad to see the lengths some individuals go to in order to conceal their craving for diecast - definitely signs of addiction. Surely if you have to resort to surreptitious tactics and behaviour to feed your diecast 'habit' then you're reaching a point where you should reflect on the meaning of your hobby? Diecast should not become the cause of a breakdown in trust vis a vis your relationship with your significant other.

Sage words of advice from a truly wise man Cardinal. My wife just wants to know when I order or win a new model. She may roll her eyes, but since I have no other vices, she's generally pretty cool about it when a box shows up. She actually liked my "Dragon and His Tail" B-24 (except for the half naked lady) and understood why I wanted one after I explained how I needed a 24 to go with my 2 B-17s. The fact that I paid 1/2 price didn't hurt either.

You miss the point Cardinal, its the thrill of getting away with it that adds to the fun.
I often think I have gotten away with it (is there such a word as gotten?) to be told in passing, oh I see another bargain has appeared!

Its not easy living with a psychologist, they can read minds you know. Lorraine always seems to be one step ahead of me.

Shes way too intelligent for me, but keep in mind this girl when it comes to practical things couldnt change a light bulb so I seem to have my uses.

Despite always being in trouble I would be lost without her.

BTW I had to take her out to dinner AGAIN tonight, just because I bought that new cabinet. like I said shes always one step ahead of me.

Re: Corgi American Bombers

Hi,
I thought I was going to get away with it also. I have a room that I stack up the diecast boxes in before I get to put the models in display cases. I made the fatal mistake of putting a TV and airconditioning in that room as a mans' "hide-a-way". She goes in there occasionally. I have deliberately made it as unpleasant and "cluttered" as possible to disuade her poking around or getting too comfortible. My wife went in and noticed a new pile on the airconditioner but didn't say anything right away. She held off mentioning anything to me until she later spotted more piles building on the floor. Turns out she was just giving me more rope to hang myself. I couldn't claim I had kicked the diecast habit! Now I'm waiting for the basement to be finished off this summer, so my collection will wind up there this winter. I really need more display cases.

Can ya recommend any "Diecastoholics Anonymous" groups?
