Thoughts on B-17 Yankee Doodle

I've been giving thought to getting a B-17 and of those available, Yankee Doodle sparks my interests. Any thoughts on this one over the others?

Re: Thoughts on B-17 Yankee Doodle

Just me, of course, but Yankee Doodle would come in rock bottom for my choice of any Corgi B-17...That is one hideous (imho) paint scheme all the way around..but that's just my thoughts on it..others' mileage may vary greatly.

Re: Thoughts on B-17 Yankee Doodle

This was my 2nd B-17 as I stole it on eBay for $29.95. It's ok overall and different from the normal "olive drab" versions. So you can get it for a good price, then why not? Right Skunky?

Re: Thoughts on B-17 Yankee Doodle

Well it's definitely different, and and on the plus side can be had fairly cheaply. I have one and it goes together fairly well, although the brown can be a little off putting it looks better in the flesh than the photos. It's also a fairly historic aircraft, and (currently until the Java one's released) the only US "E" model done by Corgi.

I suggest you have a look at Tri's site and make up your own mind. If you like it then it's perfect.

Ooops!

I got two B-17's, Sentimental Journey and Miss Minookie. I love the silver on Sentimental Journey and Miss Minookie, well, she came with the Thunderbolt.

I actually like it.
I think it is the only B-17E Corgi has done to date. Plus it has some history behind it as Ira Eaker piloted it on the first B-17 raid over Nazi occupied Europe.
(The fact that I picked it up at a Tuesday Mornings didn't hurt either)

Edit: Looks like Timbo types faster than me.

I guess I might give that amount for it, if I didn't already have a Memphis Belle which I paid exactly 4 cents more for at TM (+ tax and no shipping!)..................no, I still don't think I would. It's too much of a space-hog for something I really wouldn't be too crazy about. It just looks too awful to me.........That would be $25.95 I could put towards a Century bird or something.
..but I'm glad you like yours,Mikey!....

Miss Minookie, well, she came with the Thunderbolt.

As well as a dark blue Mustang. I bought the 3 pc. group at the local Tuesday Morning store about a year and a half ago at the super low price of $39.95!

Not to mention Skunky's favorite the blue camo'ed Mustang!

Yes, I heard this was his favorite Mustang! Bet he has the "green" version of it too. Ole Skunky can't get enough of Corgi Mustangs!
