Working Range Problems

Curious if anyone out there has had any success fixing their "Sights and Sounds" models? I saw a Spit sell this past weekend on the bay and it had some problems such as stuck gear. Can these models be displayed gear down without the stand or are the gear not stressed for that? Thanks.

Re: Working Range Problems

Saw a post on another thread here a while back. Seems the gear does tend to collapse. Don't recall if this was a gradual let down or sudden fall. Others may remember details.

The flyer in the box says that it should not be displayed resting on the gear.

Re: Working Range Problems

I have the Tuskegee P-51 working range, You CANNOT let these planes be supported by the landing gear, as it is not strong enough. You must use the stand the plane came with.

Now as far as the landing gear on my P-51, it took me several times working the landing gear button to get the landing gear to drop and retract. I also had to make sure that the plane was securly connected to the base so the contacts from the plane were making full contact with the female contacts on the base.

If you want to see my full opinion of my P-51 Working Range plane, check out my entry titled "Tuskegee P-51 Working Range" in the Corgi forum.

I hope I have been helpful.

Re: Working Range Problems

Thanks Guys for the warning. Was very close to a decision on a Heinkel III.

This is the "Working Range" (1/32) not "Sights and Sounds" (1/72). The Sights and Sounds are normal aviation archive models that simply have a fancy stand that makes noise and lights up. So get the Heinkel and display it any way you want. The Working Range models actually have working gear, props and lights. The connections involved in all that seem to be a bit finicky.
