Avro Lancaster - 'Phantom of the Ruhr' Commemorative set?

Hi all

Is anyone aware of any Corgi plans to re-release the BBMF commemorative set, to acknowledge the 50th aniversary of the Battle of Britain memorial flight? I have the original, but would love to have the repainted 'Phantom of the Ruhr' version Avro Lancaster, with repainted Spitfire and Hurricane.

Would love to know somthing was in the wind

No word yet that I know of, but if something is in the works, it will be next quarter (winter supplement maybe?) that we would hear something..

That's if there is a winter supplement this year. I'd think the odds would be good it'll get done eventually. I would prefer they did a model of the plane the BBMF scheme is based on rather than the "showbird" itself. That's just my opinion mind you.

Not too long ago the same issue was discussed on the UK forum. From those discussions there didn't seem to be too much enthusiasm for another BBMF set. I wouldn't mind one but then I don't have the original either and I may not be able have it shipped due to size unhappily. Still they could change the marks of Spitfire and Hurricane too.

Not sure about the full set but I would definitely go for the Lanc on it's own.

This is one hole in my collection as all the decent ones had long gone before I started collecting.

Ooops!

Re: Avro Lancaster - 'Phantom of the Ruhr' Commemorative set?

S -Sugar is the only Lancaster in my collection now as I got rid of the 'Sights & Sounds' because everytime I looked at the incorrect turret it drove me crazy. A new 'proper' Lanc would be welcomed but IMHO the Corgi Spitfire & Hurricane moulds are long past their sell by date. Although if Corgi did a cannon or Hurribomber/RP armed aircraft I suppose one could be tempted!

Re: Avro Lancaster - 'Phantom of the Ruhr' Commemorative set?

Two aircraft, properly done of course, would be 'no-brainers' for Corgi. The first is a Phantom of the Ruhr Lancaster and second the Friday the 13th Halifax .

For the POTR Lancaster I think they could release 1500, divided up (500 each) into three distinct liveries/markings, namely the two wartime squadrons (early and late) and the current 'combined' markings of the flying BBMF version .

One sheep to rule them all ...

A 'Phantom of the Ruhr' Lanc would always welcome on my shelf (or at least in the loft/attic)
