Re: P-51B Speculation

I think the Corgi B still could have some life in it.

Obviously your ebay good fortune has gone to your head and seriously affected your judgement - That baby was DOA I'm afraid

Re: P-51B Speculation

The bad news is in. Ehattons.com has photos of 'Shangri-La' and it's the same casting as 'Missouri-Mauler.' Bird cage canopy, but same oversize windscreen. Since it is painted all brown, it does look better than 'Missouri Mauler,' which is polished metal. The paint fills the gaps a little and you don't notice that the turtle deck is just a painted portion of clear plastic canopy. On 'Mauler' the silver paint on the turtle deck looks shabby against the polished metal.

Still waiting for the P-51A.

Re: P-51B Speculation

Can always count on Corgi to follow up on a bad mould with yet another one. Good way to ruin the market for a scheme like Shangrila's. Sure hope it doesn't discourage Gemini or even Dragon...if they ever get there

Re: P-51B Speculation

Being a big fan of the Gemini P-51Bs I took a gamble on getting this Corgi model. I have to say that Corgi have done a good job although it not in the same league as the Geminis. Corgi have improved the undercarriage, the fuel tanks are removeable, and the paint scheme is excellent. Skunky will have a s**t fit reading this!

Re: P-51B Speculation

Okay, I'll admit this isn't a totally awful model even for a Corgi. The markings look good and I even like the red wheels (colorful touch), drop tanks and shade of green. If I truly cared about the pilot or really wanted these markings, I'd buy it. But I've got the Matchbox "D" version in these later markings and the Matchbox Mustang puts Corgi's Mustang to shame. If I really wanted a "B" Mustang, why would I settle for 2nd best when for less money I could get a Gemini Aces one? I just think Corgi got beat on this one. Gemini beat them to the "B" punch, while Dragon's "B" version will be out soon and if their version is even close to their excellent "D", their "B" will be hard to beat as well. I just think Corgi should either have given us a better model or used their economic power to give us something unique like an "A" version or the A-36 Apache. If this shows up in the "clearance bin" in the future, I'll bite. Until then, I'm passing on these.

Re: P-51B Speculation

The blue is much darker in reality Andrew. I wish Corgi would give us an early RAF model with the 4 x 20MM cannon. That would be worth having IMHO.

Where is this model available? I know it was scheduled for release in December, but I haven't seen it offered anywhere online.
