1948,
I would suggest you pick up a Corgi or two and compare them to the Easy model range.. I think you will find that the overall look and details make the Corgi line a superior product to the Easy model stuff.. Now don't get me wrong, as I stated in the other thread, Easy Model does make a nice piece, but IMHO, Corgi/Gemini/Dragon diecast are oh so much nicer... I know for many collectors that price is a factor and by all means, if that is part of it, then stick with the EM range because you can't beat them for the price, but if you want optional landing gear choices, limited numbers and high quality pieces, then go for the more expensive stuff.. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.....

Thumbs up Re: corgi vs easy model

As HW said, there is no real comparisom to the CORGI and the EM as far as detail, and overall looks of a finished model. They may be a little more pricy, but if you have to save up like many of us do, just put off your buying for a short period of time, then get the Real Deal!

Re: corgi vs easy model

thanks guys points taken but easy model has the best yak-3,mig-3, their me 109s are fine and the corsairs are great if you do not mind set landing gear,a big do not mind i realize, but for some aircraft i will choose easy model as i have in the past to go along with my mostly corgi and dragon and matchbox and witty and gemini and hobbymaster and ixo and forces of valor. 101 WWII aircraft. at my level ( extreme average) of collecting i do not mind mixing it up. thanks again PS P-38's are the best

Great post 1948. If I'm given an opportunity, I try to buy the diecast version of a particular plane. But sometimes, cost, availability and overall quality prevent me from buying a diecast version. Afterall, I don't have an unlimited budget and cost is an issue for me. I don't mind getting a nice bird for a lot less. For example, back in the spring of 2006 I saw and bought the Easy Model F4U-4 VMF-323 "Death Rattlers" Corsair for $9.99 from my local hobbyshop. The model looked so nice and it really stands out with my other Corgi Corsairs. Now Corgi has released their own version of this plane. For $39.99, I can get a diecast model that isn't any better except that it's metal, but other than that, not much of a difference. So my point? Pick and choose as you need to. And don't let the fact that EasyModel's planes are plastic stop you from getting a plane you like or one whose markings are unique.

Re: corgi vs easy model

I went by phantomphans store bigguns collectibles today and saw some of the new easy models today. I think the new P-40's are out of this world. They had a Russian lend-lease P-40 that rocked. I bought a Wildcat the pre-war yellow winged version and next to my Dragon version they go nicel;y as a team. The easy model Hellcats and Corsiars are super nice. I can buy 4 for the price of an AA Corgi. Mix it up have fun!

Re: corgi vs easy model

I will go as far to say that Easy Model makes a better looking Mustang. I like them both.

Re: corgi vs easy model

Easy Model makes awsome F4U-4 Corsairs, Wildcats, Hellcats P-40's, Yaks & Migs.
Their stangs, & spits are o.k. but not as good as the latter.
For the money they put a few diecast models that cost twice or three times as much to shame, they are always worth taking a look at.

Hmmm, I'll take a close look when I get to your store next Friday. See you then!

Cool Re: corgi vs easy model

I have both the Corgi & Easy Model versions of the F4U-4, VMF 323, sitting side-by-side on display. The Corgi wheels up, the EM wheels down, obviously. When a friend dropps by, who hasn"t seen the Corsairs before, I ask them to tell me which one is metal and which is plastic. No lifting allowed. They can't tell.
