CORGI plastered across the bottom

I posed this question before but...does it bother you guys like it bothers me that Corgi has to emboss or print their name in big black letters on their models? This is ridiculous! These are not toys!

Re: CORGI plastered across the bottom

I've noticed it but I guess it really doesn't bother me. I've seen screw holes, huge rivets, horrible colors, nasty "weathering" .... so the logo on the bottom doesn't irritate me much I guess. However, if they chose to eliminate it I'd be all for it but they may not be toys but they aren't museum quality models either.

Of course, I am may have low standards - I am a Kansas City Chiefs and Boston Red Sox fan after all. I know TRUE disappointment.

Honestly, can't say that I've noticed -- and I've got my share of Corgis...

(and don't give up on the BoxSox yet! As for the KC Chiefs... well, you should be a Pats fan perhaps )

Re: CORGI plastered across the bottom

If you haven't noticed this then you may not have noticed their efforts to realistically portray any underside detail at all. I've noticed some plastic model companies find it necessary to do the same thing but CORGI's name is HUGE on the bottom of a 1/72 scale fuselage. And when they take a beautiful HM model and paint (because they never had a chance to emboss it in their mold) their BIG name on the bottom of those "Predators" models, it's even worse in my opinion anyway!

Re: CORGI plastered across the bottom

I don't have any Predator series, but I just checked a couple of my Corgi Legends, and the Corgi name is there, very small, in slightly raised letters, in the same paint as what surrounds it. Almost unnoticable, even took me a second look to find it. I kind of like it, in the sense that I will always know who made it.

Ok - I take it all back! It IS nice to be reminded of who made the model every time I admire the underside detail work.

Re: CORGI plastered across the bottom

With Hobby Master no longer supplying Corgi, isn't the Predator series pretty much at a dead end now? If this is so, you would think for the most part this would be a non issue as far as stenciling is concerned. The standard Corgi logo on their models is fairly small and I don't feel it is a significantly effects the overall look of their models. Who knows, if Predator series is really finished, these stenciled planes may become more valuable in the future. Personally I could give a rat's backside on speculating future values on planes I collect, just like to pickup the planes I would like to see on the shelf.

Re: CORGI plastered across the bottom

I have always found this practice to be a bother. There's no reason why Corgi cant identify itself as the manufacturer in a more subtle manner---like a small engraved C in some obscure location. It's especially annoying when I do repaints and the contours of fuselage bands--as on many Zeros--are distorted by Corgi's lettering.

Re: CORGI plastered across the bottom

The name on the bottom has never bothered me, but I rarely pick up my planes and look underneath..
