Personally, I think 'lanslide' has hit the nail on the head by terming these diecast aviation objects we lust over as: "detailed display replicas". I think that term is the best I have heard so far. (I may consider adding in 'aviation' between 'detailed' and 'display' to be 'detailed aviation display replicas'.)

Could go with Detailed Replica Aviation Display so the acronym would be DRAD.

Could use Detailed Replica Aviation Toys,......... DRAT we had decided they are not Toys right?

I have to admit DRAT sounds much better than DRAD and harkens to when Corgis were just that, toys. Must be getting all nastalgic, eyes are getting misty (Sniff). DRAT rules!!!
