Question Which Swordfish?

I already own the 1938 Ark Royal Swordfish and I am so impressed with the model that I want to pick up another. I have narrowed in down to either the 1941 Ark Royal or the HMS Malaya but I cannot decide. The 1941 AR has greater historical significance but the Malaya is on floats. Both planes have essentially the same camo and markings so that is not a factor.

Any of you Swordfish collectors out there have any recommendations?

Re: Which Swordfish?

I like the AR version as well as the all-black one. But then again I have all of the versions, so go figure!

Re: Which Swordfish?

I have the "Sink the Bismark" Swordfish for historical significance and would like to add the 1945 Fairey Swordfish III NF410/NH-F RAF Coastal Command to the stable because it's an MK III. The one on the floats never did much to impress me.

Re: Which Swordfish?

I would choose the Bismark one first, The silver one second, the one with floats third(for uniqueness) and the Legends D-Day CC one last. The black one does not appeal to me although any Swordfish is a true winner. I feel at this point the Swordfish is Corgis best model yet made for several reasons.

Re: Which Swordfish?

I have all of the AA Swordfisth - I originally planned on only one but they are fantastic models - and if I had to choose just one it would be the Bismark version for historical significance. The floatplane version is especially as we have so few models of well-done floatplanes. AA36304 is yet another intersting and unique black aircraft - I am a sucker for these versions.

So, as I have been of little help feel free to pick any of them. I haven't seen a lemon in the bunch so you can't go wrong in my opinion.

Re: Which Swordfish?

Raven,
Hey there.

Get there float plane version. It's a really neat little bird (As are all the Corgi Swordfish.) and one of the few float plane birds available. (In fact, it may currently be the only single engine plane on floats?)

Anything for a weird life.

Actually, no. MP made a post WW I biplane, single engine, with floats. I have one. The Swordfish, however, is a MUCH better model.

Re: Which Swordfish?

I have them all except the Legend one. They are fantastic example of how far die cast has come in the last few years. For sheer 'presence' the black Coastal Command version is the one I woud suggest.
