Re: Which Swordfish?

You need some backup?

Dang, ZS-VAN, what is that -- an automatic shotgun? I'd hate to be on the receiving end, whatever it is. I hope I'm spared when the smileys rise up in revolt.

Don't mind shotguns but would definitely prefer to be behind a machinegun. Forward Smileys!!! Charge!!!!

Re: Which Swordfish?

OK ... I’m holding you guys responsible, dog gone it!!! I had no intention whatsoever of buying a Corgi Swordfish. I was pretty much through with the pooch (but for a few minor exceptions), and then I trip over this thread and your enthusiasm, and ... and ... and ...

Oh, what’s the use. I up and ordered the Bismark Swordfish just now, just ‘cause you guys think it’s the bee’s knees.

How the livin’ dingbat am I supposed to save money with you guys cheerleading models like that – ???!!!

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Hello Pot -- this is the Kettle -- you are black!

(You wont' regret it Gort -- but it won't be nearly as impressive in the box as it would be out....)

Re: Which Swordfish?

I am not happy! I got my Bismark Swordfish in the mail from a "reputable" e-tailer and I'm positive that I got sent used goods (or at least something that's been on display for a while)!

First of all the bottom of the box was somewhat crushed - first clue.

Second, I noticed that the foam packaging was "not right" and the plane had some lint and tiny scratches/blemishes on it - second clue. I was a little confused by the lint but just wiped of the plane.

Finally, when I went to put the plane on the stand and notice that the based was CAKED WITH DUST (I took pictures for proof) - enough evidence for me.

Obviously, this plane has been sitting and collecting dust on somebody's shelf before it was sent to me. I am to say the least. The merchandise was represented as new and not as any sort of closeout or display model. If I had know that I was buying something that was not MIB, I would have though twice.

I won't name names but rest assured that I will NEVER purchase from this retailer again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just another reason I don't like buying on line - you don't know what your going to get until it shows up!

I got a few requests for an update....

So I e-mailed the retailer just to see what their response would be - I was not expecting them to replace the model (nor did I ask), just maybe provide an explanation, apology, or some sympathy. I even noted that the model I recieved from them had 2 less pieces of protective foam in the box than my prior Swordfish purchase (obviously someone had not taken the time to put all the foam back in). Their response was essentially: Sorry, your plane was not a display and the box was never opened. We don't check the stuff before we ship it (even though I had called them and requested that they make sure the bracing wires were OK and they said they would) and the model was as shipped from Corgi. You can return it (on your own dime) if you are truly unhappy. No request for images or any expanation how the stand could have gotten so dusty - They either think I am lying, won't admit to anything or just don't care.

In any case, I am taking my future business elsewhere...enough said.
