AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

Just got this from biggunscollectibles today. A beauty and nice and heavy. I noticed the pilot sucks as usual can't understand why. Corgi has changed stands did anyone notice? Not bad. I like the packaging and the fit and finish are really good. This is Corgi's only bubble top to date. I wonder if it will be the only one??? A really nice touch with the landing lights. I am very pleased and highly recommend this one. I would have gotten tthe desert one but the canopy color is wrong. Canopy color should follow camo pattern I think. If you want a beautiful, heavy plane this is the one. Great job Corgi!

Cool Re: AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

Thanks Louie. I've been eyeing this one since before it was released. Some don't like it because it's post war. Man, it was July I think, big deal, it must have seen combat prior to the end. I like it.

Re: AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

I have this one as well and I think it is a beauty. My only negative is that it is a post-war token and since this is likely my only post-war purchase.... no Vampire for me.

Very nice otherwise.

Re: AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

Tricatus' website gives ths info. on this plane :
AA36503 Hawker Typhoon Mk.IB Scale 1:72
Post-War Air Defence
SW417, MR-X, RAF No. 245 Squadron, Germany, June 1945

So this is a plane from just after the war.
My Question is : Would this plane have had this same paint scheme during the end of the war (i.e. March to April to May of '45)? Or is its paint scheme something put on or changed after Germany surrendered? Do any of you RAF experts know?

I know I'm being picky, but I'm trying to stick to planes just in WW2 - Yeah, I'm one of those, ZS-VAN. So I'm hoping this plane's paint scheme was what it had at the end of the war and it carried over into June after VE Day.

I have the IXO Typhoon and love it. All of Corgi's typhoons so far have paint schemes so similiar to the IXO one that I can't break down and get one of theirs yet. But I really like this one and it is different enough that I would get it if the plane's paint scheme was from the end of the war and not after. Thanks for any help.

Well SkyBuff, you said it, June, there even closer. (I guessed July) I get your point, but if you like it why not get it? If it did serve in theathe, why not? Just a little bit of blue here and there. I'd still be eager to hear the truth though. I'm sure someone will put us out of our misery soon. BTW, I started get WWII fighters. I've failed dismally and now even have jets. I tried.

This hobby's road is paved with good intentions, so it seems. I had the same objective: WW II fighters only. Then I got a bomber, but still WW II vintage. However, since I'm an old duffer and actually served in the U.S. Army, in Germany, durng the Korean Police Action. as President HST used to call it, I decided to honor the pilots of that era also. So I said what the hey, and bought three Korean aircraft: F4U-1, P-51D and a F-86. Now, since I broke my resolve with the addition on the Korean aircraft, I now get what pleases me. Why not, since some of the die cast issues are damn near irrestiabl?. A good example; the Century Wings F-14A, VF154. USS Kitty Hawk #100.

Re: AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

I gave up trying to categorize my collection too much stuff to like out there.... I am trying to get at least 1 good example of noteworthy aircraft in my collection. It seems there are 4's and 5's in there too. Perhaps this aircraft help loosen up some fanatical Nazi hold-outs after the end. I understand the fighting did not end entirely for quite some time. I would love to have had a rocket option but hey it is a great model and I proudly display it. All you fence sitters better jump on it I don't reckon there will be a bunch of these in surplus.

A very nice Typhhon indeed but I opted for the desert model. I seem to have an affinity for desert camo.
It seems we all started collecting so innocently. It started with a present (thanks Van) and it looked so lonely on it's own that I decided to get it a friend. The rest as they say is history!

Red face Re: AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

This one and the other 2007 Corgi Typhoon are on my wish list, but, because of lack or room for both ( I also collect toy soldiers, foolish me...) I'll have to opt for one. This one has the better looking colours, the other is from WW2. Any tips? Ordinarily I'd choose the WW2 one, but the other one's colours...
