Re: AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

Welcome Paulo. Is is nice to have another European on board. A cheap solution is the superb new Warbirds Typhoon which you can upgrade with a pilot figure. With the money you save on the fullprice one you can also buy the excellent Legends Typhoon. Two for the price of one!!

Yes Paulo. Both are now available in Europe. With the Warbirds you have the aircraft in flight, and the Legends model is posed in the wheels down mode. Win, win situation.

Re: AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

I'm afraid I'm in the post-war 'what for?' camp re the Typhoon.

I appreciate the fact the model represents an aircraft that was perhaps six weeks out of combat. But when I look at it and the other Corgi Hawker Typhoon choices, I just keep wondering why Corgi are so determined to avoid doing a ground attack version that they will choose North Africa, experimental night fighter and post war models?

I have the Beaumont Typhoon and it's excellent. I really want another Tiffy in my collection, but I'm going to have to wait and see if perhaps 2008 will bring the one I want, ideally Normandy, ground attack, with 68lbs slung under the wings - and if they announce a target tug or some such nonsense I may just have to scream!

Ain’t that the truth? Corgi has issued some extremely handsome (and relevant) types and liveries, but they’ve also produced some real LooLoos. I can just see a target-tug Tiffy. Whata laugh!

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Re: AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

Those new Warbirds and Legends Typhoons are better looking liveries than their corresponding AA releases.

Re: AA36503 Hawker Typhoon

The chances are that the aircraft was not operated in these markings. As soon as the war was over in June, some units started removing camouflage and painting squadron colors on the nose. 66 Sqdn Mustangs are a good example, so likely 245's C.O. did a similar thing but retained the camouflage.
245 Sqdn was disbanded on Aug 10,1945 at Schleswig in Germany and reformed in the U.K. the same day, equipped with Meteor Mk3s.
