Re: Corgi Hangar

Aircraft were made to be seen/displayed - not hid in a hangar. (That's just a glorified "collectors box!")

What's wrong with you guys? Maybe there is a forum on HO scale buildings you all (who voted to take 2) can go to.

Its like....
(Well, any appropriate analogy escapes me at the moment.)

Re: Corgi Hangar

Who said anything about putting planes in the hanger? I would just like one to display with my planes.

That's what I'm planning on doing. I got mine for my Columbine Connie with just the tail section sitting inside the hangar

Re: Corgi Hangar

I'll take one or two, if they are 1:72 scale, to display WITH my planes.

Re: Corgi Hangar

I'll take one in 1/72 scale. And I'd like a 1/72 runway. And some Bofors guns for anti-aircraft protection. And....

Re: Corgi Hangar

Datacroft was working on one or had built a Hangar and there was another forum member (Bob??) who was working with him on developing the scale drawings.

Sorry Datacroft, I probably got it all wrong and I can't remember if the plans were offered for sale, tried to find out a few months ago what happened.

The corgi hangar was made by Metcalfe Models in England at
metcalfmodels.com
I contacted them a few years ago about it, maybe if they got some e-mails it would be released again.

I'd like a 1:72 scale WW2 and a NATO hangar as well along with the ground support equipment.

Re: Corgi Hangar

Personally, I think that hangars, dioramas, equipment are a potential revenue sources that is being overlooked by the diecast manufacturers. I would readily pay for 1/72 ground support equipment, tarmac pieces, carrier deck sections, figures, etc.. that I could use to enhance my collection. I have zero ability to scratch build or assemble/paint something from a kit but I would love to depict some of my aircraft in historical settings.

I seem to remember that Martin indcated a while back on MH1 that Corgi looked at these types of items and decided they could not do it cost effectively. I have to believe that someone could make it work.

Make the bases painted plastic and interlocking for expansion.

Pick several time periods (WWII, Vietnam, Current) and various theaters

Sell the vehicles, figures, and other equipment separately (a la carte)

That way, collectors could do a little or a lot and spend accordingly

Just my 2 cents....

Re: Corgi Hangar

I hope you all are taking my post (#13) the way it was intended - sarcastic humor.

That hangar actually looks pretty cool. And I'm all for diecast companies putting out diorama item/stands/accessories (as discussed in the old forum - man I wish we had all those old discusions archived and accessible).

However, I did vote no on this poll. I wouldn't buy it due to limited space/display space as well as I prefer to display planes "flying"/gear up on their stands.

I would like to see some dio type bases that could be used for 1-2 planes flying - Typhoon/V over England (not my original idea); Flying high above a fleet of Japanese ships; railroad yard/train strafing run; Above the Jungle canopy of SE Asia (How about that stand for the Olds F-4?!!); Above the trenches - WWI; etc.

As stated above - dio/figures/accessories - possibly a missing market within the diecast community.
