Re: A.A.37205 (& 37204) Red Civilian Halifax/Halton Berlin Airlift & Friday 13th !

Friday the 13th at Elvington is marked as 13th portside with the yellow tail markings and as an Elvington based Free French aircraft with the red tail markings on the starboard. Yellow is correct for the wartime markings and portside present day.

Well that clears up that then

Ah-HA! Well, that solves that little mystery. Thanx sniperUK.

Above: 'Friday the 13th' on display at the Yorkshire Air Museum

Above: 'Friday the 13th' - as interpreted by Corgi

Here is your difference. The rudders.

Sniper's summed it up (basically) about the "Dual-Natonality" markings on the "Replica-Composite" at Elvington

The REAL LV.907 "Friday the 13th" wore RAF markings both sides, until she was Scrapped just after the end of WW.II

DON'T BE MISLED/MISTAKEN by the 'Buff-coloured-Card' above, (marked "Aircraft-Collection") stating "Original" - it ain't !!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S NOT THE 'REAL' LV.907 NP*F "Friday the 13th"

It's a part real/part replica "composite" aircraft - the largest section of ACTUAL Halifax, coming from the Mid-Fuselage of HR.792

I've included pix that I took in Sept '87 (at Elvington) of what (later) became 'the' LV.907 "Friday the 13th" Composite you see today

I'm pretty sure they are too, although I can't say for sure, as there seems to be a bit different ('C' versus 'F' registration). Both my Brother and I built this very kit in the mid-60s. I agree with you, it does look much more regal and majestic with those broad yellow bands! I seriously want this one beside the Mk ll version.

Above: The famous Halifax Mk lll kit most of us built during the 60's-70s. Is it 'Friday the 13th'?

Good point. I really haven't a clue. (Of course, we are still looking at Corgi's pre-pro model as well.) Is there a 'Halifax aficionado' out there who can weigh in on this? Seems like a lot of us are curious.

* Additional info: There seems to be a MAJOR discrepancy with the current image that I posted from the Yorkshire Air Museum and some images that Hornchurch has posted from a YAM visit (Not sure when, though). His stunning photos show Ft13th EXACTLY as Corgi is about to release. See page 2 of his photos under 'Image Hosting' > 'View All Users Images'. What is YAM doing?

What awesome boxart!

It's a pity corgi don't do graphic scenes like these on their boxes.

I'd very much like to see those attacking JU-88 Friday the 13th photos. Can anyone give me a URL?

I don't think it was Friday the 13th that wasin those photos but the Desert halifax that is due this year. I understand tyhat it was towing a glider over the bay of biscay on it's way the North Africa when it was attacked. The Glider released and then the Halifax fought off the JU-88's.

Does anyone know what happened the the Glider + Crew? I have a feeling that this was an act of self sacrifice, but I'd like to be proved wrong.

I will be passing on the Berlin A/C as it is postwar and not in my collecting era, but i can see how it will appeal to those familiar with its history.. Now, Friday the 13th is another matter, I will certainly be getting one of these and displaying it alongside my "silver" freebie..

Re: A.A.37205 (& 37204) Red Civilian Halifax/Halton Berlin Airlift & Friday 13th !

Looks like Corgi are planning to do the composite French/Ft13th as currently exists at the YAM.

This posted from the UK DAF.

http://forums.diecast-aviation.eu/sh...t=6681&page=14

There is also a poll there as well so I would suggest you vote . Personally I thin k this is the wrong choice. I would prefer the WWII version as opposed to the composite.
