PBY-5 Catalina "Black Cat"

I was about to photograph the "Black Cat" Catalina when I realized that HWorth18 had struck again, he took my last one on Friday. I should have another shipment this week so I'll pick this thread up then.

This is a preview picture with photography provided by Corgi Classics USA

Re: PBY-5 Catalina "Black Cat"

I wish they would of made this one a PBY-5A.

It looks really sharp in that color i think.

Re: PBY-5 Catalina "Black Cat"

I agree, I have always been partial to the black paint schemes of almost all aircraft types. I can't wait until this one arrives. It seems like a diecast piece has been arriving about every four days. I LOVE IT!!

Re: PBY-5 Catalina "Black Cat"

Classy looking aircraft, and I like Catalina's, but cannot afford it. Perhaps I'll find on at a deep discount someday. Much as I do not like the idea, heat in the house this winter, and fool on the table are more important!

What's that you're having for dinner there Eddie, Skunk?

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

If that's the case I don't even want to think about where the stuffing goes!

Re: PBY-5 Catalina "Black Cat"

My friend's uncle was a black cat pilot, and always used to tell him about a crash landing they made back at base when they ended up just running the thing up on to the beach to get it out of the water becasue it was sinking due to bullet hits. He said that when he left to go home at the end of his tour, it was still sitting where he left it.

Re: PBY-5 Catalina "Black Cat"

I have to say that this is one beautiful bird.... I tossed around the thought of getting it and in the end of the day, I couldn't pass it up..
