Favorite online stores

Last edited by slammer400 : 04-21-2007 at 05:44 AM. Reason: spelling
Just starting out, I was wondering if it is OK for you guys to plug your favorite on-line stores for buying Corgi, FM, Gemini etc.
I am familiar with the Flying Mule, any other good stores.

I have to admit I didn't really do all the reading I should have when I signed up, I hope this doesn't violate any rules.

Thank you.

Re: Favorite online stores

Welcome, slammer! We are allowed to share websites that sell diecast, just cannot share the link in such a way that you can click on it and it will take you to the site. I'm not currently aware of the actual site address, but Petes Collectibles is one. If you go onto Corgi's site, they have links to various sites that sell their product also.

Re: Favorite online stores

Slammer,

I've used the following on-line stores with success in the past. These can all be recommended in my opinion:

Pete's Collectibles
DieCast Direct
The Flying Mule
Bad Cat Aviation
On Mark International
Aiken's Airplanes
Joe Pilot

Basically, I look for who amongst the above has the stuff I want first, or at the best prices. Some have models/accessories that others don't (for example I recently ordered some very hard-to-find Marushin 1/48 scale pilot figures from Aiken's, no one else has those that I could tell), and some have better prices for certain brands. Plus most have occasional sales/specials where you can sometimes find what you want for a lot less than normal retail.

Hope this helps.

I've used the following sources with good results:

Aikens
Bad Cats
Burbank House of Hobbies
The Flying Mule
On Mark
Target (local store)
Tower
Tuesday Morning (local store)

Like most members of this site I first look for availability and then price.

Re: Favorite online stores

Slammer,
As the Capt stated, it isn't against the rules to discuss retailers, just don't link to them..
The retailers I buy from are:

Onmarkint.com (primarily)
flyingmule.com
badcataviation.com
monkeydepot.com
petescollectibles.com

Re: Favorite online stores

According to my wife, I use too many. I use mainly

Flyingmule
Pete's Collectibles
Onmark
Bigguns (Phantom's site)
Badcat

Now since I started collecting after there were some good models made, I sometimes have to go to who ever has the item.

Re: Favorite online stores

Thank you for the links and clarification on the rules.

Starting out can be overwhelming, I had no idea there were so many choices out there. I'm reading a good bio on Erich Hartmann right now, so I guess as I'm developing a great respect for that man..or kid I should say, I'll buy his first. Hard to believe sometimes when i look back at what I was doing when I was twenty one years old, compared to what kids of his generation were embroiled in. I'm leaning towards this 1:40 from Franklin Mint, maybe you guys in the know can tell me if this particular model is accurate. Also how about the 1:72 Corgi of the same plane. I'm impressed at the degree you guys know your planes.

I'll ask this question over on the Franklin Mint forum...I'm still getting used to the forum, I forgot there was a FM forum.

The Franklin Mint Bf-109 isn't the best, but it is okay.. It has a few issues like an undersized canopy and rear stablizers located too high, but as I said, its okay.. IMHO, Corgis 1/32 Bf-109G Hartmann is far superior, but finding one can be tough at a decent price..
