2008 - Sopwith/Brown vs. Fokker/Red Barron

Do you think this one will come with a "trench lined/no-mans-land" base - i.e. the Corsair/Zero Guadalcanal set?

Personally I think that would be GREAT!

Also, I'd love to see a set like this done with Werner Voss's last battle.

(Anyone "know" anything on this set yet - or is it all speculative?)

What ever you do, don't put a diorama base on it. Except for the Catalina, every diorama that Corgi has done has been a flop. Look at the Guadalcanal or Corsair on deck, or Ski Gladiator as examples.

I am not sure why, as I have all of them, but for some reason they don't do well.

As I display my aircraft in flight - I really liked the Guadalcanal dio base. I didn't see anything wrong with Corgi's execution of that set. As far as the Corsair or the Fin. Gladiator.....I already had enough Corsairs and the Gladiator dio just seemed too expensive for my collection interests.

Is your perspective that you, personally didn't like the Guadalcanal set or you just don't think Corgi should do dios from a larger "market" perspective - i.e. low, slow sales? (NOT criticizing your opinion/perspective - just seeking clarification in the discussion )

[Jumblies has the WWI set listed for 52.95 pounds. Would the price indicate any "extra's regarding this set? Or is that the standard price for a traditional Corgi 2 plane set?]

I love this set, and personally have it on display. I even paid full price for it when it came out. Problem is, most places are still trying to get rid of it and sells on eBay for $10-$20. Same with the Corsair, I love it, but it can be found for $20 and most times doesn't sell at that.
I personally think Corgi does and awesome job with Dio's, but for some reason the market doesn't apperciate them.
maybe it is the Corgi Curse, or maybe they are over priced, or maybe not many want dio's. The answer to that I do not have.
