Legends limited after all?

Last edited by admin : 04-10-2007 at 03:08 PM. Reason: Fixed list
Hi,

I just saw a list with the new production numbers for the 2007 releases. One of the items that caught my eye was the legends swordfish AA36305. According to this (official) list the planned release number was 3000 and has been cut back to 2200. I always thought that the legends series was not limited.....but apparently nowadays it's simply a limited edition without certificate and presented in a different box.
I don't know if somebody else posted this list so just in case...

Re: Legends limited after all?

Nice info. Where'd you get it?

We've been informed by Corgi's new management that the numbers were being reduced, but it is fascinating to see the actual numbers. I thought the new "Legends" *are* limited, though I could be wrong. In Corgi's case, non-limited simply means that the company may produce more of a given model in the future. "Limited" simply means that Corgi promises that no more will be made (at least, no more of the same quality). Even "unlimited" models are made in a given finite quantity. Let's just say that "Limited" means "finite and bounded", while "Unlimited" means "finite but unbounded". In that spirit, observe that Corgi has repeatedly released the 1/144 Memphis Belle. Each release is slightly different, with different box art, or slight variations in livery, but Corgi has never promised that any of these releases is "limited". On the other hand, the AA Wick Bf-109 was reproduced as a Warbirds, but the limited AA is definitely of superiour quality (in both printing and accessories) to the Warbird. In general, Corgi has not been in the habit of announcing the production numbers for non-limited models.

The new management may change some of these policies.

Re: Legends limited after all?

Can't say I'm big into Legends. I only have 3. Can't really see the point of having them limited. Why not just get on with it a make a decent AA?

Re: Legends limited after all?

Picking up on ZS-Van's posting.

I'm not sure what the current appeal of the Legends birds is? At least in the states, the price is the same, just with difficult packaging. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

If the pricing is going to be the same, I'd MUCH prefer to have the regular box and whatnot.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Legends limited after all?

All corgi's are limited, it's just some are certified limited, others just have a manufacturing batch set to a specific limit. The question is what is that batch size, and will it get re-run. Certified ltd planes will not have a re-run.

The nature of the Chinese toy manufacturing production process dictates this. These items have been booked into specific mfg slots and qty's months ahead of time. It is very hard to then go and extend this slot as you have the manufacturer then producing the next item, which could be for a completely different manufacturer.

I'm not sure what the effect of reducing these slot sizes is going to do.

Ooops!

Re: Legends limited after all?

I take it the first number is the originally planned amount and the second the new amount. If that's the case some of these birds could be very hard to come by as they have production quantities in the low hundreds.

Ooops!
