Question for the more experienced collectors: Corgi's release schedule

I apologize if this is a perennial or duplicate thread, but would someone be so kind as to explain Corgi's release schedule to the new guy? If say a JU-52 or Halifax is listed as a March or April release, when would you actually expect to see them ship? Thanks!

Re: Question for the more experienced collectors: Corgi's release schedule

Check,
It seems Corgi releases them when they release them.Sometimes there a month early to 6 months late :0.
But either way it's worth the wait...I'm waiting on that Halifax as well.

Re: Question for the more experienced collectors: Corgi's release schedule

What's really interesting is when you break your own rule about not making pre-orders, and then the three models in the order that were supposed to arrive in the same month come three-months apart (breath, breath). To clarify, that's a total of 9 months.

Re: Question for the more experienced collectors: Corgi's release schedule

I find Corgi's release schedule isn't really helpful because they have so many problems with factories, engineering and shipping. It's not always their fault but......

I use the dates as guidelines and I'm never surprised when a release date slips by. That's why I don't usually preorder Corgi models any more. Too difficult to budget for something that's so inconsistent. That goes for the other manufacturers as well. Use the dates as a rough guideline.

Re: Question for the more experienced collectors: Corgi's release schedule

I think Corgi is improving in their release dates as many planes do come within the month specified. The previously delayed A/C were mostly due to Corgi changing factories because they weren't happy with the quality produced by the one..I haven't seen a plane delayed yet this production year..

Re: Question for the more experienced collectors: Corgi's release schedule

If you notice, some retailers (USA retailers in particular) have started listing releases by quarter (like, "first quarter 2007"). This will be more reliable, but still subject to some slippage. This is the main reason I have stopped pre-ordering Corgi. Of course, the new management took the absense of pre-orders as cause to fully CANCEL some of the models I fully intended to purchase. Hopefully, their schedule will improve with the new management. But, it should be noted that almost no other manufacturer publishes their release schedule so far in advance. Indeed, Gemini Jets and AeroClassics only announce releases when the boat leaves China (literally)! Dragon generally gives us about 1 to 2 months notice, but even then, their releases invariably slip one or two months further. Admiral and Hobby Master sometimes give us a heads-up, but rarely set a date certain for availability.
