Re: Help

Guys

Thanks for all the leads. I did not notice the Carnegie till after the contractor was gone. Called him right away and talked, as they are back in on Tuesday he said he will find out what happened from his guys. He seems to be a good guy so Have no worries about him covering the cost ( i think I'll get a free humidifier installed on the furnace) .

I think I figured out what happened. They were running new copper lines for the ac unit and had to notch out a piece of the header plate on the wall that separates the furnace room from my temporary office/den which is really a storage room (in the house for a year and still have a stack of boxes to go through). Anyway they must not have checked what was on the other side of the wall and just started cutting with a saws all no doubt. Well on the other side of the wall were only 2 shelves mounted to the wall above my computer desk. between the shelves and desk there was 14 die cast on display. The vibrations from the cutting sent the P-47 down which took the Swordfish and Lysander down with it off the desk to the floor. Found part of the P-47 canopy on the desk along with the missing pilot so it got damaged before it hit the floor. Because of the noise of the saw they didn't hear this happen so didn't know. Came over into the room looking up into the T bar ceiling cavity and proceeded to step all over all 3 planes destroying the Swordfish and Lysander. The P-47 was a nice boot print on it.
The only good thing coming out of this is that I now have some pilot figures to place in my Dragon and HM birds. Might be able to make up a crash site diorama with the Lynsander.
Thanks again guys for the help and comments. You really have to like this little community we have built up here.

Wow!! That is unfortunate that these planes met such an untimely demise..

Re: Help

What carnage. That would really piss me off, I'll tell you that! Particularly the Corgi Swordfish which is a super model, very delicate though (for diecast).

At least they'll pay for them, but how can you put a price on the mental anguish?

Is it mental anguish or metal anguish?.........................Horrors!...

This is the worst of the worst catastrophes in the world! Oh,they're crashing . . . oh, four or five hundred feet into the sky, and it’s a terrific crash, ladies and gentlemen. There’s smoke, and there’s flames, now, Oh, the metalanity!, and all the screaming around here!
. . . I can’t talk, ladies and gentlemen. Honest, they're just laying there, a mass of smoking wreckage, and everybody can hardly breathe and talk . . . Honest, I can hardly breathe. I’m going to step inside where I cannot see it.

Steady old boy, I must say the pilot of the Lysander looks quite bemused.

Hey there, Skunky, you wouldn't be trying to put this in perspective (while being very humorous), would you?!?!
