AA36902 Corgi 1/72 scale JU-52 Minesweeper

I just saw on the Flying Mules site that the AA36902 Corgi JU-52 Minesweeper has arrived. Does anyone have this yet? Opinions?

The pics on TFM looks nice, though I'd rather have a JU-52 without the ring of confidence

Still tempting though

True.. I won't be getting one (famous last words) but it does hold out hope that the Floatplane version will be just as good..

I like the looks of it ok...But look how that bird sits on the stand...The wheels are in a tire shape bowl..
Neat...

I beleive that the JU-52 is about the size as a B-17, with a 16 inch wingspan.

What is the " ring of confidence ". I looked on line and did not find anything, or any pictures like the one showing on TFM. Will someone please enlighten me.

It's a degaussing ring designed to impart a magnetic field that will set off magnetic influence sea-mines.

Re: AA36902 Corgi 1/72 scale JU-52 Minesweeper

Did not have this one on pre-order. The floatplane and Russian Front are. Looking at this aircraft I might be very tempted to add a third 'Tante Ju'. Is the ring removeable or is it an integral part of the model?

Thanks Hoverbug. But, now I must ask you to further expound on your answer.

I assume that this was used to magneticly deactivate sea-mines useless or to set them off so that ships can pass through underwater mine fields without danger of being blowing up. If so, I can only assume that the plane with the "degaussing ring" had to fly at a very low altitude above known mine fields to do its job. Is this a correct assumption? And if so, how low above the water would a plane have to be to be successful?

Thank you.
