Corgi USA future???

This blurb was posted by a member on the Corgi club forum.. Not quite sure what to make of it..

At this time, it looks as though the future of Corgi US is headed
for disaster. The US Holding Group that has bought out Corgi UK,
has no current plans for Corgi US range items beyond the 2007 year.

The Corgi US office has reduced it's office staff to 5 part time
employees. This information was given to the President of the
Boston Area toy Collectors Club by Corgi UK at Toy Fair 2007 in
February 2007
.

Personally, I don't see Corgi closing down the US operations...

Re: Corgi USA future???

This thing with Corgi has got to be on some collectors nerves.
All this does is add to the confusion of what's really going on with Corgi.
Less planes will be made in 2008 i'm sure.

That wouldn't seem to make sense -- how else they going to sell 4,000+ Beamont Typhoons?

Re: Corgi USA future???

If anything this looks like they are moving the US opperations into their own organization, thus saving overhead.

Why would they keep a seperate opperation open in Chicago when they are based in Walnut Creak CA??

Ooops!

Re: Corgi USA future???

I guess I'm confused: I thought the holding company, Corgi Interntional, was a Hong Kong-based entity...? (Although apparently it's traded on the NASDAQ as CRGI.)
How much difference is there between Corgi's US and UK lines on a yearly basis? Maybe planning will be centralized? Again, I'm just asking out of confusion.

By selling 'em to a national-road agency as 'Flourescent Roadside Markers'

Re: Corgi USA future???

I thought that the new VP or director of marketing stated, on the UK forum, that Corgi International intended to expand it's US operations.

I say take everything you hear with a grain of salt at this point. As soon as I get clear of my latest work assignment I'll see if I can't get someone from Corgi to come on the forum and put an end to the speculation.

Re: Corgi USA future???

I'd like to assume that this is all a bunch of rumors being spread....it happens in the auto business all the time. Most the "experts" don't have the first clue on what's going on.....
