Why no desert 1/32 109?

Since the 109s are the smallest in the 1/32 range I wonder why Corgi never went in for a desert 109. I'm pretty sure that a significant amount of folks would spend money on a black 6 lookalike. Anyone try to model an air filter for one of these?

I think Corgi discontinued the line before they made it that far, as they would have eventually with the release of the early G "Yellow 12" which would've made an excellent desert version..

Re: Why no desert 1/32 109?

I'm a big fan of the desert warfare aircraft and would have definitely added a Corgi 1:32 to my collection.

I have seen the large scale plastic Black 6 at WalMart (Century 21 Toys I think?) and have been sorely tempted to snag it, but the sheer size was enough to make me come to my senses and leave it where I found it!

Too true, I'd have gotten one. They are really nice models, second only to the Spitfires.

Re: Why no desert 1/32 109?

Yes it's a real shame that they didn't do a 1/32 desert 109. I would have definitely snagged one.

I have to say that I think the 109 is as good as the Spit.

You never know, with the new management a more limited issue of the 1/32 molds (1000 copies max) might see the light of day. I think the big problem Corgi had was that they made so many of them and issued multiple models so close together. There are so many folks now searching for the more limited runs (3rd Mossie or most spits) that there has to be demand for them.

Ooops!

You know, you can have a desert 109 in 1/32 scale, if you don't mind plastic......

Re: Why no desert 1/32 109?

I really like the Corgi 1/32 Bf 109s but think that the Spitfires are the best of the 1/32 range with the Mustangs coming in 3rd place and the Hurricanes coming in fourth (but still very nice) . Now, if they were to produce a FW190 similar to the Heinrich Sterr 1/72 tri-camo model, I would be pre-ordering ASAP ...
