1/32 Corgi die-cast and broken parts

Today I received a 'Kiwi' 1/32 Spitfire which is truly a thing of beauty with the black & white undersides . Due to the fact that the stand was one of the 'reverse' assembled ones I had a mishap when comparing it with the one used for my 'Battle Scarred' Spitfire, which appears to be getting more 'battle scarred' by the day. To cut a long story short, the engine cowling flew off the 'Battle Scarred' Lane Spit, I , did who knows what , and when I returned the Spitfire to its cradle it was missing its aerial/mast . After some superglue gel fixed the problem I pondered how many of you have also accidentally broken bits 'n pieces e.g. aerials/masts, pitot tubes etc. off your prized 1/32 scale aircraft. Hence the poll - misery loves company .

Card .....Now why in the world did you do that......
I have to say "Never"
have i been careless to my babies.
But i will say one time my wife dusted a plane and it came down crashing...But that don't count because it wasn't me.
FYI she does not go near them anymore since that day.

I've asked myself the same question, repeatedly - just plumb stoopid I guess ...

Re: 1/32 Corgi die-cast and broken parts

I'm perplexed by these reversed stands, I've never received one that I know of.

Re: 1/32 Corgi die-cast and broken parts

I have'nt had any mishaps so far, but as I am only now getting the 1/32's out into display formation I hope any accidents are small ones. My prototype spitfire had the 'friday afternoon' reversed stand, Corgi should at least offer a Halifax as compensation

Re: 1/32 Corgi die-cast and broken parts

Huricane aerial's seem very prone to falling off. I've had to fix 2, plus a couple of small bit's on my 109's, and the bomb rack out of one of my mossies fell out. Nothing major and always complete after (at the moment)

Ooops!

Re: 1/32 Corgi die-cast and broken parts

I haven't had one yet, but am afraid my days are numbered. I wish that the two piece stands would lock together when assembled. I fear that one day I'm going to send the bottom part crashing through the glass shelves of a display case.

Re: 1/32 Corgi die-cast and broken parts

I dropped a BF109 from about 4' 6" it landed on the wingtip and knocked the red light out. I was amazed to find that no other damage had been done! How lucky was that?

Re: 1/32 Corgi die-cast and broken parts

I've broken off the antenna from my Sea Hurricane when trying to adjust it, and I've scraped off the national insignia from my Stinger P-51D when taking it off that stupid clip.

Re: 1/32 Corgi die-cast and broken parts

Not once -- yet, but I only have three models that are pretty much on permanent display and are not used for cat-strafing runs....

IF the question was for 1:72 models, my luck is not so good -- I've broken a few 1:72 models during photography , which I can only blame on my own carelessness. And I've broken a few small parts trying to force them to fit into various dragon, corgi, and HM models...
