Lysander changed my way of thinking.......

I swear I NEVER thought I would buy one of the gangly insect-like birds but I am a believer now. I went by Biggunscollectibles today and saw first hand many new diecast models and the Lysander desert livery caught me totally off guard. I had to have one and it now sits proudly next to the Gladiator I swore I would never buy and my 3 Swordfish. This model is very well done. The fit and finish is excellent and the pilots are very human-like and reminiscent of the Swordfish aircrew. Corgi did good.

Re: Lysander changed my way of thinking.......

I agree
I remember when I first saw it in the new 06 catalog and thinking that I was finally going to skip an entire model type. When I saw it in person I caved and bought the first two and preordered the third.

And remember, we still have the all black 'special ops' Lysander to come. This will be very popular IMHO as the history behind these machines is amazing.

I like that Lysander because I used to work on one. I always though that they were neat looking.

Bhahhumbug! What's with you guys?! I was also thinking of passing this one up. You all are a bad influence. What about the wife and kids?

Send them out to work and order the Lysander! I shall await the night ops one.

Wanna be brave and get an odd looking plane?

Try the IXO Blackburn Skua. Now there's a goofy looking plane. I refused to get it for a long time, but I finally gave in. It's not nearly as bad in person.

Tough little aeroplane with a noble history, and a nice example of a pre war aircraft. . I have one of these, its one of Ixos better ones. Yes I know I hate Ixos so why do I keep buying them?
Yes its the same old story, Its the only way to get one. Nobody else makes them.
I bet Ixo laughs all the way to the bank.

Re: Lysander changed my way of thinking.......

I love the early-war and pre-war aircraft! The Lysanders have a secure place in my collection beside the Gladiators and Swordfish. Another thing I love love love about them is the fixed landing gear. No worries about "which way should I display the?" or "what if the gear is loose?". That's another reason I'd love to see a Val, Claude, Fokker D XXI, etc - fewer fiddly bits to deal with.
