It's a speccast release -- 1:48. And I would call it a self-respecting model of a P-40, silver prop notwithstanding... Spec's P-40s are pretty nice, one of the top models in the lineup IMHO.

P40s RULE OK. Anyway the P40 is better looking, with the exception of those trollops on the previous page. I just knew if I made the statement some one would be certain to put a photo of a silver one on the thread. Now , where can I get one! Now I shall show a little maturity and add my comments to the P38 thread. this is the one I have been waiting for. Olive drab but plenty of detail and an interesting scheme. I just cannot resist this one and no WW11 collection could be complete without at least one example of this wonderfull iconic aircraft. I really must have this so I shall put plan B into action . You know the one , slip it past the little lady unoticed Plan. The problem is that a P38 does stand out in the crowd. She will no doubt spot it and I will have earache for a day or two.

Hi Jetfan, I saw my first P38 model in flesh so to speak a couple of weeks back. It was not the scheme I want but the quality was superb. I was hooked there and then. I wanted an example of the Olive drab scheme to remind me of the Duxford one I saw crash taking the life of one of my aviation heroes Hoof Proudfoot and this one is the nearest scheme to that one. Watching the P38 display was a special treat for me. The old fork tailed devil looks a bit on the weird and maybe a little on the ugly side sitting on the ground , but when that old girl takes off and swoops down over the field it is just the most wonderfull exciting sight imaginable. A bird of sublime grace and beauty. I just hope that one day we may see one flying again in Europe. Everyone should have the pleasure of seeing a P38 fly overhead. Ah bittersweet memories.

| Re: US36604 Lockheed P-38J-10 Lightning "California Cut
You had me wondering for a minute there, Jim. As I remember her being re-painted in this scheme, I thought I'd forward a photo I'd came across (Airliner's site/pix) of Stephen Grey's ex- 'California Cutie'. My guess is, that's why Corgi done the scheme in the first place. She crashed (at Duxford), on the 14th July '96. Ironically, I was driving up to Norfolk via the M.11, TOTALLY oblivious, to what was going on, when I passed through the scene, some 20-25 mins after the crash ( & saw a Yellow Sea-King from Wattisham, circling round). Wasn't till I arrived & my Mother greeted me with the bad news of the crash.
