Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

I do have some contradictory information, though it's hardly worth the controversy. According to the Corgi stock report issued on 2/23/07 there are a few cancellations.

Aircraft models are shown in Dark Red.
  • AA32813 Mosquito FB.Mk.VI MM417, RNZAF "Harbour Bombing Raid" Feb. 1944 Sights & Sounds
  • US33311 Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress "Big Yank"
  • US51027 M4A3E8 (76 MM) Sherman Tank of the US Army's Company C, 89th Tank Battalion, Han River, Korea, March 1951
  • US51604 T34-85 Tank North Korean People's Army
  • US61003 Arnhem Bridge Set 1 Tiger I Tank, 3 Figures & Base
  • US61004 Arnhem Bridge Set 2 Panther Tank, 3 Figures & Base

I thought that those 2 aircraft models have been cancelled for some time. Not sure where I got that from though - Could be the UK forum.

They could have been. They were probably listed in the report for several weeks prior this one. Even though it comes out weekly I don't often get a chance to read this report.

Re: 25% of the 2007 Catalog Cancelled?

I contacted my contact at Corgi USA, and this was the email trail:

Hi XXXXXXX

There is a rumour going around that Corgi is cancelling 25% of the 2007 catalogue. Can you confirm or deny this for me. A site in the UK called Jumblies http://82.110.105.22/jumbliesmodels.com/catalog/index.php has posted this PDF (attached) on thier website. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Scott,

I'll cut and copy an e-mail from my boss, David Davenport who is the GM of the Americas. I hope this answers some of your questions about this rumor.

Thanks,

XXXXXXX

Hello XXXXXX,
I understand that you are receiving calls and emails from customers, consumers and distributors. The calls relate to a significant reduction in sku’s, particularly US related subject matter. This came to us by way of the UK account known as Jumblies Models.
I worked on forecasts this past weekend. We are going to “tie together” the US and UK forecasts for the purpose of production in China. The UK direction here does NOT necessarily dictate the decisions that will eventually be taken by US Management. As you know, I shall depart Corgi at the end of March. Between now and then however, Senior Management will be making decisions as to the marketing of North American appropriate subject matter.

Until this exercise is completed, all else is speculation only.

Not sure if this helps or makes things worse, but here it is.

The sinner 262 on the "hit list" is now being listed in stock at some retailers, too...

In summary - we just don't know! I think we are going to have to just be patient and watch this mess unfold. Like the snowstorm we had today in the Northeast - we won't know how much snow we are going to get until its all over.

Yes. It is most confusent. The temptation is to order models that were cancelled, but listed as sold out, just so you won't miss out on a possible limited issue, one that may not come out anyway--but how can that be if they are sold out...unless they are listed sold out because they were cancelled...maybe a couple aspirin would help

Not sure what this means precisely, but it certainly sounds like the list is less than reliable on-the-whole, and the US models shouldn't be there at all. But does that mean the US models are "safe"? I guess only time will tell.

I just hope they don't cancel the sight and sounds Dambuster lancaster and working range Graf 109. Too bad about the "Skyblazer Sabre" as I wanted that one,
